Not Soy Milk?!
please include links if as all possible.
Answers: What is wrong with 8th continent soymilk? i never see it used in vegertarian recipes or on the sites i cant seem to find any real answer and i am becoming a vegetarian.
please include links if as all possible.
8th Continent Soymilk used to contain vitamin D3, which is derived from lanolin (wool fat) or fish oil. The company now uses D2, which is not derived from animals. So 8th Continent is now vegan and there's nothing wrong with it that I know of.
well which brand are you talking about? If its Silk on their site they announce that they are vegan...but I am not sure about other brands.
There's nothing wrong with it, most vegetarian or vegan recipes just call for "soy milk" or "milk alternative" or "milk" and you can use any brand you choose. Silk, 8th Continent, Soy Slender, etc.
Edit: Just so you know, many things around us are endocrine disruptors. Pesticides used on conventional produce, plastics, chemicals found in animal products like cheese and dairy, etc. are just as dangerous if not more than soy. The person below has spammed the V&V with that same rant a few times now and it's really misleading, because there is more worry about plastics (like Cling Wrap, plastic tupperware, etc) than soy, for instance. You are exposed to more chemicals in your environment that disrupt your endocrine system's function FAR MORE than drinking some soy milk. Someone's crying wolf...

Soy milk... and all soy products including the archetypal "veggie burger" are endocrine system disruptors.
Most soy milk is made using an acid process in aluminum tanks... basically you can expect an increase in symptoms of aluminum poisoning... skin tags for one... and detox symptoms as your body tries to throw all that off.
You can use small amounts of fermented soy products as flavoring agents... shoyu and miso.
Consider the various nut milks on the market... I like the vanilla flavored almond milk on my cereal.
If you do really want to do the vegetarian thing... the best route for the money is to invest in some basic equipment and go to "raw foods" to get the most health for your food dollar. In this you are eating things that are prepared and perhaps dried at no more than 105 degrees to preserve the enzymes and all the other nutrition in it. Rich in sprouted grains and legumes, and lots of raw nuts, as well as veggies and fruit.
personally
i do not like 8 continent
i do buy rice milk and silk milk
If you google 8th continent soymilk recipes, you get these links..usually any soymilk or almond or rice milk can be substituted in recipes for regular milk with varying results depending upon what you are making...try it with some of your favorite old recipes and see what happens...I have used soymilk for banana nut bread and apple dumpling dough...and it came out fine...

Edit- I am interested very much in the links on both sides of the soymilk controversy. We can read and decide for ourselves. I thought you were asking for recipes using only that soymilk, when they are pretty much interchangeable with milk in recipes...but I guess you were asking if it was "bad"...
8th continent is owned by Dupont. They are guilty of many pointless animal abuses and their soy milk isn't vegan either.
