Is it okay for Vegetarians to eat Beef Broth? =/?!
Answers: My mom wants me to go on a Soup Diet, and the soup MUST have Beef Broth in it,or it doesn't work, and she says the beef broth is only flavoring,I don't really know,I've only been a vegetarian for three months, and I'm a little standoffish about it. I don't know what to do!! I do really need to lose the weight, but I'm afraid it'll go against me being a Vegetarian. It's Beef Broth with fat,but 99% fat free, mom says that makes a big difference? I don't know! There isn't alot of options since I live in a REALLY small country town,we don't have substitutes like bigger towns do. I've looked everywhere else,It doesn't have the answers I need. Would I still be considered a Vegetarian if I ate it in the soup? It's veggie soup, but with broth? No meat chunks in it. I'm really new to this,so I don't know :( Can you guys please help me??????? I'm supposed to go on the diet tonight! :(
beef broth is not just flavoring...its is made with meat and if you want to be a true veg because of the animals then i would not eat it but if you are doing iot for dieting reasons then i guess you could.
Then again if you are becoming a veg for dieting reasons and you live in a town with no substitutes then you should just stick with the soup diet because then you are not able to get the protein you need in your body.
there are pills to restore this protein and the iron you need but the only stuff you can eat when there are no substitutes are fatting like mac and cheese or meatless spagetti. so there is really no point in being a veg even though it is great to have one extra person to help save the anmals.
beef broth is made from meat ..........you decide
veggie soup should be made with tomato broth or tomato juice
if slurping cow essence is allowable in veggie bilaws then do it.
Most vegetarians would not consider you a vegetarian if you ate beef broth.
It is, however, up to you to decide where you draw the line--and this may depend on why you are a vegetarian.
If you're a vegetarian because you consider it cruel to consume animal products then you probably want to avoid beef broth. If you're a vegetarian because you consider it to be a healthy diet, then you might be more open to consuming some beef broth.
It isn't necessarily black and white (although some vegetarians believe it is). You can choose what is acceptable and what is not.
even though it would be sort of like eating beef, i think its alright...ur eating it for health not cause u wanna. but, after this, try to avoid meats all together.
Yes, beef broth is from beef, so it's not vegetarian. Try using vegetable broth instead. Or use soy sauce to flavor the broth; the vegetables and some herbs and seasonings should be enough. Or find another diet.
Your MOTHER wants you to go on a SOUP DIET???
Forget the beef broth issue. Tell your mother you would prefer to take a HEALTHIER approach to losing weight. Soup diets and other fad diets are temporary, not to mention unhealthy, solutions to weight loss. If you really need to lose weight then you should be working with a registered dietician, not something from the pages of some stupid magazine or website. Your mother should know better.
Not technically but I have to cheat sometimes because my parents are against me being a vegetarian so I have eat things like that once in a while but it's up to you
NO! Most beef broths have beef in them, it is reduced down in some cases from water and veggies cooked down with beef bones. Its not"flavoring". Often the added flavoring is monosodium glutamate which you do NOT want to eat. It is not good for you.
You can buy vegetable broth or what is called no beef broth and no chicken broth. It is cheaper to make soups from scratch and you can control what goes in it easier. Any soup is good for you, what you want to try and avoid is the creamy ones. Look for trader Joes, Whole foods, Sunflower markets, and Wild Oats on line and see if any of them have on-line ordering. You could get the broth or boullioun sent to your house and make the soup. If you don't know for sure what you are eating then read the labels...it will tell you. Hopefully your mother will respect your choices, good luck.
You lose weight being a vegetarian or vegan normally - about a pound a week. This is because we veggie lovers eat less calories than meat eaters... vegetables are surprisingly low in calories!
Soup diets are not healthy. They seriously harm your heart, and it is basically the same as being anorexic - that's how bad it is for your body. Don't put your body in jeopardy to lose weight, lose weight healthily!!! Eat a balanced low-cal and low-fat diet and workout!
And to answer your question, no, beef broth is definitely not vegetarian. It's made from, surprise, beef. That's a cow. The lack of fat means absolutely nothing - a cow was tortured and murdered for it, regardless.
It's your call on what you want to eat. It is your life. Don't let people pressure you into eating things you morally object to.
try making a vegetable broth to use instead.
Being "okay" is up to the person. However vegetarians do not eat any part of a dead cow, even if it's liquidy.
No, vegetarians don't eat dead animals and they don't drink them, either.
A "soup diet"? Really? You and your mom should both know that gimmick-y diets don't work. The only thing that will work for permanent, healthy weight loss is making sustainable lifestyle changes that include eating fewer calories and increasing activity levels.
