Answers: what do u feed ur dog?
u feed him the leftovers of what u eat "that's what I do".
there are tons of websites that offer info about what kinds of food to give to/buy for your dog. these ones helped me:
http://www.vegetariandogs.com/
http://www.v-dogfood.com/
http://www.veggiepets.com/ <--- this one's my fav.
good luck! there are options! :)
I feed my dog any thing I eat. She does like Vegetables. And so do our other dogs they all so like vegetables.
I feed my pets regular pet food. I know it's terrible about how the animals are treated, but it is in their nature to eat meat and being restricted from meat can be dangerous for their health. If you want to switch your dog's food to a veggie-friendly (vegetarian or vegan) food, please talk to a competent veterinarian first about the risks for your pet and whether your pet should or should not become a veggie-friend! Don't do it without talking to one first, and don't blindly believe everything you read on the internet.
My dog eats meat... both actual meat (usually chicken) and organic dog food (Canidae). He also eats vegetables, occasionally a bit of fruit, etc... But he definitely gets meat every day.
Humans and dogs are different... Humans are omnivores with herbivore leanings, dogs are omnivores with carnivore leanings. Humans can thrive without any meat... our bodies don't need it, and in fact most meats are difficult for humans to digest. We can get everything we need out of non-animal foods. Dogs, on the other hand, can digest meat VERY well and their bodies require it. And unlike humans, they don't digest grains, nuts, legumes, etc... very well, which is what humans eat to supplement meat, so they're missing those crucial nutrients on a vegetarian diet. Yes, dogs can survive on vegetarian diets, and some even do well... but most don't. It's not healthy for them.
I'm vegetarian because I oppose animal cruelty and killing something else for food when I (as a human) don't *need* to. I feed my dog meat because he (as a dog) DOES need it.
There are vegetarian dogs foods but I heard that they are bad for their skin or something like that. My dog sometimes eats the vegetarian dog food because she's been eating it for 4 years now and she's been fine. It's called "Nature's Recipe" Vegetarian formula. I also feed her plain pasta(cooked, no salt or sauce) along with some veggies, mixed together. Occasionally a hard-boiled egg. She seems to love it and so does her dog pals.
It is cruel to force feed a dog food other than what it would normally eat if it was not your pet. Dogs are natural carnivores so take it from there.
An animal will feed on anything remotely edible if it's hungry enough. So if all you feed your dog is a vegtarian diet, then of course that's what it will eat. It has no choice. But place a vegetable and a piece of meat on the floor and see what it goes after.
Dog food that contains meat, and human grade ingredients...never crappy dog food like pedigree.
I love my 2 doggies, and I would never make them eat a vegetarian diet. I feed my dogs Innova and Solid Gold kibble.
dogs are not omnivores. dogs are carnivores. utter carnivores. i feed my dog meat and canned and dry food that is primarily meat. fresh meat is best. uncooked meat is best. chicken necks, uncooked, of course (the bones, if cooked, will choke them) is a treat and is good for them.
How many times is this question gong to be asked???
I have four dogs, and they are all fed Royal Canin.
I feed my dog meat even though I don't eat it - I believe dogs are carnivores and if we're going to keep them, we can't deprive them of meat! Frankly, I put my dogs well-being above those of farm animals.
I'm not a vegetarian, but during the War, our dog was (amost).
We got him through with a lot of bread and home-grown veggies, black pudding when we could get it, bread mashed with gravy and any scraps of fish, bones and gristle we could scrounge. I even fished bones out of the street pig bins!
He lived till he was 18 - blind and incontinent but otherwise pretty healthy.
I'm vegetarian but I don't impose my personal view on my dog. He eats a balanced diet which contains meat. He does however beg for leftover vegetarian food which he gets in moderation sometimes too.
I'm vegetarian and I feed her Ol Roy dogfood. She gets veggies too. I know, I hate to feed them cows and chickens, etc. but I dont have the money to buy the alternative dog food plus it isnt healthy for dogs.
Dog food. What the vet told me is best for them.
Probably not the most popular answer. I make my own NON-Veggie dog food for my 10 year old Box-Lab Mix. I started back when the dog food scare happened. Her amazing improvement in health has kept me doing it.
I use Organic Chicken or Turkey to make a stew every week. She gets lots of doggie approved Veggies in it. She luvs her Veggies! 2 times a week she gets can sardines(in water) along with her high quality dry food. Her breekies is eggs with a little high quality dry food. The fact is she gets nothing except the dry food that my husband could not eat, he's not a Veggie. He comments all the time on how good her food smells when I am making it.
I believe dogs need meat, I don't believe we do.
I chose to have a pet that has different needs than my own it is my responsibility to provide them.
Slainté(to your health)
I usually feed my dog dog food and bread together. Even though I am a vegan, dogs are carnivores and I am not gonna mess with his body by experimenting with soy on him. Sometimes he eats leftovers from what my family eats, like small pieces of chicken, gravy, etc.
-Celtic is right!
I don't restrict what my dog eats, he hasn't got a voice so its unfair to alter his diet, wolves naturally eat meat in the wild so it would be unnatural for him. Besides the bits in dog food are mainly disgusting leftovers anyway, i don't feel that not buying dog food has saved much.
Dog food.
"chicken bones"---I thought we aren't supposed to give dogs chicken bones?
I don't live with my family, but we do have a dog. Since I am not there to feed him, they feed him regular dog food. But when I get my own dog, I am most likely going to feed them vegetarian dog food.
Dogs can live a perfectly healthy life on a vegetarian diet, as they are not strictly carnivores.
I've read that cats, however, can not survive on a veggie diet?
PetSmart and PETCO (as well as others I am sure) offer a bagged food that is vegetarian and has high protein, etc. It is by Nature's Recipe. They also have canned food too.
Here is a copy off of PetSmart's website of the ingredients in the food:

I feed him regular kibble. I know he likes vegetables, but he likes meat even more. :-) Also, he can't really tell me which diet he'd prefer, so....yeah. It's something I've thought about, but I think it's unfair to drastically change his diet because of my own beliefs.
Contrary to what others have said dogs are omnivores. If need be, they can and will subsist on a vegetarian diet, provided it is adequate in nutrients. Cats, on the other hand are carnivores. They will die without meat and will not subsist on anything but.
