Answers: As a vegan how do you know that you are getting all the necessary nutrients that your body needs?

a vegan diet has to be done right to be healthy.. it has to be balanced..

B12 is kind of hard to find outside animal products, but there are things like marmite and nutritional yeast that are a good source..

That the majority of people think that they're annoying.

I am veggie - thinking of going vegan. My problem is more do with social settings, like when i go to work lunchs, I feel like i do not want to make a big fuss. - i work with mostly middle aged, men, and i live in Utah - cowboy land. so its more about the ways people will see me.

Its like you do not kill - hunt - or eat dead animals you are seen as weird, but thats just in N.Utah. i am sure its different in other parts of the country! -

but really I am very happy being a veggie and if I want to be a vegan thats my choice, i just need to balls to do it!

Vegans can suffer from Megaloblastic anemia (B-12 deficient anemia):

This is because Vitamin B-12 is difficult to source in a vegan diet, with an exception being seaweed (e.g., nori, etc.). To prevent this, you can supplement iron AND B-complex vitamins AND Vitamin C *together*, as all of these components help the body synthesize iron. There are many vegan and vegetarian iron supplements, and some even contain the other aforementioned nutrients.

If you supplement a vegan diet in this way, you won't feel fatigued, or suffer other effects of anemia. It's also important, however, to cut the junk from a vegan diet: no fast foods, white bread, combine your foods to create better proteins (e.g., whole grains with legumes, or beans), and make every calorie count.

All the best to you ...

Ignorance from others.

As an omnivore, how does one know they're getting the necessary nutrients a body needs? Why do so many people think that the end all be all of nutrition is meat and breast milk from another species?? Seriously.

The only people i've ever known with deficiencies are omnivores. Living on Mcdonalds and frozen pizza does not a healthy person make just because they're getting chunks of dead animals and their secretions in their diet, and it's ridiculous to think it does. Fruits and vegetables are more important to health than animal products will ever be.

I think it boredom............=;

Idiots that say things such as the following:

"the most common problem that vegans face is that they are still hungry after eating."

"That the majority of people think that they're annoying."

My biggest problem is deciding where to draw the line. Once you cut out all the obvious animal foods (meat, milk, eggs), its hard to decide whether you're going to eat Jello, or use beeswax products, take fish oil pills... these things aren't major food groups that will jeopardize your health, but there are more and more ethical considerations the farther along you get in your veganism...I'm transitional obviously (still tempted by Jello and I love my bee products...) It's very easy to live without some things (like hamburgers), but at some point you have to draw the line that's comfortable for you. Just make sure you take your veggie-vites and B12s and go at your own pace.

my only problem is finances. It is extremely expensive to be vegan, eat organic, and etc.

You will not have a problem if you take vitamin pills daily and try to eat a colorful diet (of vegan foods) (if thats what u want) o.O

As far as nutrients. Well, growing up in a country that is totally ignorant when it comes to food, health, etc., I had to do research.

In my mind, from a common sense point of view, being on a diet totally void of animal products, wasn't a problem at all. Looking at a human from the point of biology, we are defiantly herbivores. No doubt about it. So, I went to the library every day and tried to prove myself wrong. Just looked up every single thing and every question people asked me... where do you get Protein, B12, B6, Calcium... people just go down the list, so... I said, "I don't know" and went and looked it up every time. I thought I was done researching, but my friend always thought of more questions.

How does anybody on any diet know? You have to keep track of what you're eating.

the most common problem that vegans face is that they are still hungry after eating.

no to eat meat which is very healthy and delicious

Trying 2 eat somethin dat dont cast a shadow, ha ha
