It tastes a bit like celery - more like the hard lump you sometimes get at the end of a stick of celery. You need to peel off the fibrous layer first. You can boil it or put it in stews like a turnip, add it to roasted vegetables or grate it and eat it raw in salads.

tastes of aniseed =you can oven roast it or it's nice as mash.

go on live a little - buy one

yes it does taste of celery

and best of all is cut into fine matchsticks and eaten raw with mustard dressing as a salad

It tastes a little like celery. Use it in a stir fry or roast it.

No idea what it tastes like but I watched a cookery programme last night and they recommended cooking it in milk which aparently neutralises it's bitter taste.

prefer it (first cooked complete for 20 minutes) fried with some oignions as a fine spaghetti sauce (ad 1 box of passed tomatoes, p+s, muscat, dried basilicum)

one of my favorites since many years

(Past'a Scudia)

What means dry Pasta (non soup)

It does have a taste of cooked celery. My dh HATES raw celery but likes my Celery & Cashew Nut soup. So I knew I was ok with cooked celeriac.

After peeling we chop into finger size strips and boil until tender then blend with salt & pepper and add to mashed potatoes. Or we have it as a simple accompanying veg.

Must have a go at making a soup with it when I have this but no celery. Or the raw suggestions made.

It's relatively new in our household but I guess you could use it in a creamy breadcrumb topped Gratin. Or you could cook it in "chip" size pieces. Cool it, egg each one and breadcrumb them and fry them to make crunchy chips out of them?
