I left my soy milk out of the fridge last night!?!

Question: Last night I bought a half gallon of Silk soy milk and then came home and opened it. I put the lid back on of course, but I forgot to put it back in the fridge before I went to bed. Is this still good to drink, or did I just waste $2.89?

Here is a quote from the Silk company's website,

"Don't leave Silk unrefrigerated. While Silk will not spoil if left out for an hour or two, those two unrefrigerated hours do shorten the life span of your soy milk. In fact, every hour on your counter equals one day off its life expectancy."

Sounds like your Silk is long gone if it was out for 7 or 10 hours, as that's the number of days you can keep it after it's open anyway (if you notice it says use within 7 to 10 days within opening).

Interesting rule of thumb by the Silk Company. I'll also link you to another part of their site where they discuss how to tell if soymilk is spoiled in case you want to risk drinking it anyway:

I wouldn't drink it. I'd rather not take the chance of getting sick.

Oh no!!! I'd say it's ruined now!

I have done stuff like that...just sniff it take a little taste on your tongue and if it is sour spit it out. It should be ok if you put it back into the frig. Soy milk has to have fewer germs when pasteurized than cow's milk does, so it keeps longer.

I do that all the time!

To test if it has gone bad (without tasting it) add it to a mug of hot coffee. If it curdles (ie. doesnt mix into the liquid uniformely) or settles to the bottom, it has gone bad.

It took me many drinks to discover this- I always hated soy milk because I thought it was too sour...seems I've just been drinking it bad! :D

there is no such thing as soy milk, because there is no soy tit. they only call it soy milk becasue you cant say soy juice without throwing up a little.

i'd not risk it and get a new one. bacteria grows really fast
