Replace the protein and iron with beans and green leafy vegetables.
Stay away from the processed soy products. Faux meats and stuff like that. Processed foods and junk foods will be detrimental no matter what your diet affiliation is.
Didn't you do any research BEFORE you changed your diet??
yes, you are missing protien from your diet. try eating other food that are not meat that contain protien such as soy products.
As long as you incorporate foods such as soy and beans, you should have no problems with your diet. However, you won't get vitamin b12 which only comes from animals. It's also produced in your own body. Take a multivitamin if you're concerned. The vegetarian diet, when done right, is very healthy for you.
There is this meat (unmeat) it tastes like meat but its veggebles and it has everything healthy in it.
wow, changing your daily food intake on whim?
The animals are going to be eaten. One person isn't going take down "Big Meat".... and the health advantages are very slim. If you eat a well balanced diet incorporating organics, you will get the nutrients you need.
eat beans and nut to get protein, u can also get iron from various veggies, there aren't many things that you cant get from plants thats in meat. but things like creatine, and omega-3 acids are mainly found in meat and fish. its also found in nuts but u can have to eat alot of them and they are high in fat.
Ive been a vegitarian for almost a year now.
just take vitamins and make sure you eat all meals everyday still and youll be fine.
while eat beans and rice at the same meal because it is a complete protein and eat nuts 2 and tofu
if you still eat dairy and eggs, you're really not going to have to worry about it. the animal-specific nutrients are in dairy and eggs.
if you are avoiding *all* animal products, then be careful to consume enough beans and lots of dark, leafy greens. you may want to also consider taking a vegan-specific supplement, simply because there are a few nutrients your body will be used to getting massive amounts of from animals and it will be an adjustment having less available.
Nutrients like protein, iron, and calcium are important, but you can easily meet your needs with a well-balanced vegetarian diet. See http://www.tryveg.com/cfi/toc/?v=08sourc... for some protein-rich and iron-rich vegetarian foods.
are you eating any animal products? cheese and eggs offer protien if you can eat those items. if not, soy products will work and rice and beans too. they are doing so much with tofu-hot dogs, cheese, bacon and turkey like products. then there is Texturized Vegetable Protein (TVP). tvp is a soy product that is like bocca burgers but also comes in a dehydrated form so you can make fake ground beef. for example; FANTASTIC FOODS is one of the nation's leading natural foods companies, offering delicious and innovative vegetarian food choices to consumers. granted you can buy tvp in bulk or health food stores too. and do not forget your nuts, peanuts etc and you can make almond butter at Whole Foods. you have made a wise choice!
First, I applaud you for taking this step... Being vegetarian shows a certain amount of empathy and love for all other beings sharing this planet with us. Good for you!
The good news: Being vegetarian is such a common thing today! Take it from me- I was 18 when I turned vegetarian (I'm now 28) and it was tougher for me because there wasn't a whole lot of information out there to teach me how to eat appropriately. Plus, it was harder to find veggie food in the mainstream grocery stores. Now, you can walk into any grocery store anywhere and you'll find a vegetarian section (Boca, Morningstar Farms, Quorn, Veat, etc).
Do your research and stick to it! Search online for vegetarian websites, read books and anything else you can get your hands on.Take your time to learn as much as you can and you will find that going veggie is awesome! It is the best thing I have ever done- for my body and for the animals.
Best!

Why don't you do some research so you know what you're doing instead of just listening to other people?

Regarding B12, if you're eating any animal products, you aren't going to be missing B12. I don't know why people who mention supplementing it on a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet would get thumbs ups.
yes its true
vegetarian tends to die bout 10yr younger then
someone who eats meat
ouch!! must sucks to be a vege eater
