vegetable samosas: (crispy pastry filled with spiced peas and potatoes)

Vegetable Jalfrezi : (cauliflower, peas, potatoes, bellpeppers, carrots, string beans onions and tomatoes)

Shahi Paneer : (Homemade cheese cooked in a masala sauce)

Malai Kofta : (A creamy preparation of vegetable dumplings)

Alu Gobi : (Spicy potatoes cooked with fresh cauliflower)

Palak Paneer : (Homemade cheese, cooked with spinach in a mild sauce)

Bindi Pyaaz : (okra and dry spices, stir fried in onions)

Navrattan Curry : (An assortment of fresh vegetables, homemade cheese, nuts and raisins in a mildly spices sauce)

Bengan Bharta : (Roasted eggplant, cooked with corainder, cumin, onions, and tomatoes)

Chana Masala : (chick pea curry, flavoured with turmeric, cumin, coriander and onions)

Dal Makhani : (Punjabi recipe, using five types of lentils)

Hummus, vegetable kabobs, curry without the meat, tabuli salad, felafel, etc.

Being a former chef and I cook alot of Indian food and have eaten in a number of very good Indian places, I would recommend dishes like Channa Dal (chickpeas) Toor or Mung Dal (Lentils), Aloo Gobi (Potatos and Cauliflower), Pakoras (a veg appetizer) Onion Bhaji (an onion loaf like onion rings in a brick), Rice or a Veggie Biriyani.

Now if she doe eat some dairy the are dishes made with Paneer (a cheese dish, firm like tofu), they have Tikka, Saag (spinach), Korma is another veg based dish, ask the waiter for suggestions, if you like dairy product or eat them have a Lassi, a drink made with yougart and fruit purees. Then there Kerir the rice pudding or a carrot sweet made with nuts and raisins (Halwah).

my favorite by far:
Dal Saag. (can have with spinach)
here the cool thing about Indian food....or most indian restraunts:
you can choose the intensity of the spice. If i were you i would start with 1/2 (you can always add spice, but you can't take away)

Ovo lacto/ Vegan/ Jain ?
Try some latte (yoghurt), masala tea, naan
Ask the waiter, they can also provide you good recommendations!
Indian food is pretty heavy.

Ask the wait person. If they are native, they can guide you ... I mean, crikey .. they've been vegetarians for centuries.

lentils dahl with crunch roti canai. yum!

Hey Flex you didn't answer the question. I thought you knew everything?

Go for the Paleek Paneer if you like spinach.
