Tofu, soy, and (dairy (if you choose to eat that.))

being a vegetarian has opened many doors for me, a healthier life style, no guilt of animal cruelty on my behalf, and I even got a scholarship from my high school to use towards college.

There are MANY MANY MANY meat alternatives, you just need to know where to shop and for what brands.

good luck

You really should do some research and know what you're doing, instead of believing what you hear from omnis who try to educate you on YOUR diet, and don't know any better.

Cheez-it has some protein but not much. Since your a vegitarian. Can you eat eggs. If so eat eggs those are a GREAT sorce of protein

not nuts!
be low fat getit from beans bread and soy

Here are some ideas for protein:
1) Tofu
You can make any chinese/ thai recipe with lots of veggies and tofu
2) Paneer : Indian recipes
3) Cottage Chesse: bowl of cottage cheese with fruits and honey
4) Any lentils (also called pulses) make lentil soup, salad or lentil vegetable. Find some ethopian and indian recipes online

Thats what I did a while ago too. I also gained 15 lbs. and was extremely unhealthy because I ate all the wrong things. You can't become a vegetarian and then get the information. Educate youself first, become a veggie later.

Eat soya products, it contains all the essential amino acids in meat protein so it is the only protein that equals meat as in being a complete protein source. Otherwise have a mix of protein sources such as grains (e.g. rice) and legumes ( e.g. beans), in a day, so you get all amino acids needed that way. Dairy products are needed to get vit B12 unless you get it from a supplement. Only about 15 to 20 % of your calories are needed from protein.

veggie ground meats, vegetarian ham and turkey, tofu, beans, nuts, lentils, brown rice, some vegetables, seeds, whole grain breads wtih flax seeds among others are amazing sources of protein, peanut butter and lots of dairy products, such as yogurt, milk and cheese

hope this helps! (check out my "vegetarian?" question for a great, healthy shake that includes lots of nutrients for breakfast :D)
and remember, you need to eat a 1/3 of your protein at breakfast, so have a tofu fruit shake and bread with peanut butter at breakfast, or switch it up, even make a vegetarian club sandwich for lunches :)

hot dogs
