Where can I obtain "shiitake" or "chinese black" mushrooms?!
I think the most common mushrooms that you will find in US supermarkets are:
1. The common white button mushroom.
2. Portabellas, baby bella, Crimini
Answers: As you have already found out, most local supermarkets sell shiitake mushrooms.

Asian market. Some larger grocery stores will have a section of different mushrooms.
you can usualy find shitake at some walmarts. in New mexico, however there is a place called the talin market where there are foods from all over the world.
I can find them in most major grocery store chains. Some don't like to carry them, because they are expensive and perishable. Usually found in packaged mushroom containers.
i got canned oes at the 99 cent store lol
Check the Asian section of your store. They usually are in dried form.
In the U.S., button and portobello are 2 popular kinds of shrooms.
As you mentioned the name PriceChopper I assume your either in Canada or Ontario, they do carry them along with Food Basics and all the major chains, if you have an Asian stores they will have dried one and some black fungi also, it is know a wood ear mushrooms and it the black stringy bits found in Hot and Sour soup, they are more a texture than actually flavour.
I have been using Shiitake mushrooms ( back then they were over $9 a pound) since the early 1980's they were a novelty in Toronto when I was a chef and in the last 15 yrs they have become more available, the dried ones are alway available, they need to be soaked and the stems on the shiittakes are tough so remove then whether they are fresh or dried.
