Would me going vegetarian make me lose weight quickly?!

Question: I know that you should eat everything for a good balanced diet, but i think that if i wear to eat only vegetables and that kind of stuff.. i could quickly lose weight and it isnt like i have no problem eating animals in the first place.. im against it and i try not to think about eating them.. i love animals. so i think this could be a good thing for me. So what are good vegetarian foods?

I have been a vegetarian for over a year. Last year i had a realization on what was happening to animals, so i made it a resolution to do this for life, it is a commitment and a life choice not just a diet plan. i have lost weight from it to though, not drastic weight but enough. Some good things to try are a veggie stir fry, cook some red, yellow and green peppers with any spices you like and/or some sauces, then add to spaghetti noodles. its great. Also there are great veggie burgers, and things on the market. The best ones i would say are boca and morning star things. you could also get many veggie soups and things like vegetarian chili and vegetable soups. One of my favorite things though is stir frying a ton of vegetables, pick the ones you like or even if you dont like em you can throw em in, because if you use some spices they dont taste like vegetables, they are quite delectable...i really hope i helped if you have any more questions just ask. :)

eat some grass like cows

yes of course. You would reduce your body fat content if you no long consume fat.

Being a vegetarian is not the answer it losing weight "faster"

not really no to loose weight quickly do not take any carbohydrates and sweets and do a lot of exersise

Celery, carrots, corn, green beans, noodles, potatoes, tomatoes, and strawberries. I like those.

no i would not make you lose weight quickly. cuting out a food group like that is bad for and i can damage the body. just watch what kinda meat you eat. try cuting out pop. you can lose alot of weight that way.

don't see how that would help....but if you want to go to a doctor for animals...go for it

u can have soups salads stirfries and if u want some meat u can have fish

No. It would not make you lose weight quickly. I have many vegetarian friends, and none of them lost weight. Probably due to the amount of carbs the took in. Vegetarianism isn't a lose weight diet plan. It's a life choice.

what are good veggie foods? Ah like veggies. ah maybe no meat, what the hell do you think veggies is ice cream and cake

Being a vegetarian does not make u lose weight. I have many hindu friends who have been strictly vegans since they were born. reduce the amount of junk food u eat. All u gotta do is eat right and excercise 3 times a week for 1.5 hours. I do it, i have been losing weight. i eat meat 4 days out of 7. But the meat portion is smaller than my palm. I have been doing it for 2 months and have lost 5 pounds. BUt i see results cuz all that fat is becoming muscle now. Finally, i can feel the muscles in my leg when i walk.

No, you will nor necessarily loose weight quickly.
If you want to do so be mindful of how you prepare your diet. A salad made of expected salad veggies plus garbanzo beans, cheese, croutons, salad dressing, & imitation bacon bits, (does anyone produce real bacon bits?), can be very high in calories. If you bake you veggies in a lovely white sauce you with gain, also deep fat frying tofu cubes lard is FATTENING & actually makes tofu palatable.

Like all diets you must be mindful of the fat and calories.

It depends on how much meat you consume now. If you cut ANY staple food out of your diet you'll lose weight initially. And, contrary to belief, eating fatty foods does not "make you" fat. Fat is bad for your soft organs, especially your heart and aertaries, but sugars and bad carbohydrates (white flour, sugar, etc.) are what cause fat cells to expand. Think about this though, even if going veggie doesn't help you lose a massive amount of weight, you'll FEEL much lighter even after just THREE days. Trust me, you'll poop a lot, which will help with weight loss and bloating, and you'll feel a lot cleaner. Plus, the extra water and vitamins from raw veggies and deep green leafy salads will give you MUCH more energy than a heavy protein diet-it takes your body MUCH longer to digest meat.

1. you are veggie.
2. you excercise

still you have weight gain then read this :

A decrease in thyroid function results in a decrease in the consumption of energy and as a result more energy is available to be stored. Weight gain is, therefore, typical of an underactive thyroid. There are many other causes for weight gain.

To detect thyroid disorder:
It is relatively simple and inexpensive, however, to rule out thyroid problems as a cause for these symptoms by measuring TSH in the blood. A normal TSH excludes thyroid problems as causes for fatigue and weight gain and individuals can be reassured that their cruise control is functioning just fine.

Going vegetarian isn't for you if you want to lose weight fast.I know many people who have been vegetarians/vegans and never lost or gain any weight

no necesarily, but i have lost ten pound since becoming a vegeatarian and you have to eat healthy food to keep your enery and protien level up.

Weight loss is a fairly simple concept: eat more calories than you burn and you'll gain weight, burn more calories than you eat and you'll lose weight. If you plan on eating primarily a whole foods vegetarian diet composed of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and legumes, it's fairly easy to plan filling, low calorie meals. But the mere fact that you're vegetarian will not make you lose weight if you're still eating lots of calorie dense foods.

If you really want to go vegetarian for the right reasons and lose weight in the process, I recommend getting a copy of "The New Becoming Vegetarian" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. It's complete coverage of vegetarian nutrition and has a chapter for overweight vegetarians.

It depends. If you don't eat healthy as a an omnivore, you probably won't eat healthy as a vegetarian.

Just because you might stop consuming meat doesn't mean that you can completely get rid of all the excess fat intake. French fries are loaded with fat. Especially McDonald's french fries. But it's good that you're taking consideration to the animals. You can find some good vegetarian recipes in cook books at book stores or online.
