When you first prepare tofu get a plate and put towels/paper towels on top of it then put the block of tofu in the middle then put more towels on top of it then get a heavy pan and fill it with heavy cans. then press the moisture out for a few hours the best you can then you can job it up and marinate it for a little bit in a plastic bag in the freezer then put a bunch of stir fry vegetables from a stir-fry bag into a pan but first put oil into the hot pan and smashed and chopped garlic. Then put the vegetables in and then the tofu once they are somewhat cooked then you can serve it over rice.

Most vegans/vegetarians that I know squeeze it so that it will retain the flavor of whatever you are cooking better.

I usually fry it up till its nice and crispy, and then dipped in soy sauce.

my grandma made a filling for it out of beef and some soup

well the possibilities for cooking with tofu are virtually endless!
i don't know where to start..
you could try checking out some vegetarian or vegan cookbooks from your local library.
you could also look at recipezaar.com, there are a lot of good ones there!

You can try this recipe (I always make it, and it's pretty easy) Chinese Noodle Salad with Tofu:

They have lost for recipes on that website (in case you want to make something else).

You can blot the tofu (to remove the excess moisture). You can also cut the tofu into blocks or slices, and marinate the tofu with spices (it depends on what you're cooking).

Tofu is one of the most versatile foods available today.
Tofu has the wonderful property of assimilating the flavor of whatever you are cooking with. It works like camouflage nutrition with any other food that you want to added it to.
You can use it in any way that you please. Its use is really up to your imagination.
To start getting use to the flavor and its use for example:
_ when your are making scramble eggs replace half of the eggs with chopped tofu (nobody will notice the difference)
_when making spaghetti sauce replace some of the meat with tofu (again nobody will notice)
Do you get the idea?
For others type of food, for example salads; after squeezing the moisture out, chopped it and soaked it in low sodium soy sauce for a couple of minutes and then added to any salad.
Or go to the links suggested in other answers above.

Whatever way you decide to use it, you will have the wonderful assurance that you are eating a wholesome food, full of nutrients and most digestive.
** It is always a good idea to squeeze its moisture using any method that you prefer before you use it in any recipe.

okay well my personal favorite is take a block of firm tofu and chop it into small squares. then put the chopped up tofu into a skillet filled with olive oil. cook it till its lightly browned. and while its coking add in the spices you like. it tastes great afterwards covered in soy sauce!!!!!!
