OK I got a doozy here! So this guy comes in today and ask if?!
Answers: our Gardenburgers are vegan. After searching the the allergy book (in the middle of lunch rush, mind you) it is found that they are, indeed vegan. So he ordered a Gardenburger WITH SWISS CHEESE. Now correct me if I am wrong, but..... last time I checked cheese was not vegan. What say you?
Hahahah OMG I Hated customers like that! I waitressed for years as well as cooking, doing fountain and managing the same restaraunt. There was once a guy who came in and asked the same thing about our Gardenburgers-soo I went and double checked and it was. The man gave me a hard time about how wrong it was that there wwas barley a vegan menu and how unfair it was... etc. The guy added bacon and Extra cheese along with let, tom, mayo!!!! I wanted to deck the guy! He was a jerk the rest of the time he was there! I def feel you!
i agree with you! thats funny! :-)
definitely not vegan
he was yanking your chain
Last time I checked they don't eat any dairy products and cheese falls in that catagory.
Sounds like he isn't a very good vegan.
maybe he wasn't vegan. maybe he just wanted it for the health aspect.
and cheese isn't usually amongst most vegan cuisine. some people aren't as strict as others
Wow that's hilarious...thanks for the laugh... :)
i say this guy was either just being a pain, or he didn't really know th meaning of vegan , like he thought that vegan was vegetarian
Not truly, but some vegetarians do actually eat by products of animals (milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs) and just not the meat, but I can't remember what they are called.
lol.. true.. most vegans wouldn't eat cheese since it is obviously made with an animal product.
Cheese can be Vegan - You can find VEGAN Cheese at health food stores.
Its vegan when its not Dairy based. It is Sold
I don't believe it is vegan either.
You are right, if you are a strict vegan, then you exclude dairy products from your diet. So that would include cheese. That means he is a vegetarian... maybe he doesnt realise the difference.
Wow, amazing, though maybe he is slowly coming back to eating meat, first cheese, then milk, fish, poultry, pork and then he'll devour a Live Cow... or donkey!!! (or Lama, I always get confused)
Sounds a little nutty... or maybe he was confusing vegan with vegetarian? I have seen people do that numerous times in this section of V&V. I've even seen someone claim that vegans can't eat garlic/onion (that's Hare Krishnas, not vegans!).
Otherwise the only thing I can think of is maybe he wanted to make sure there was no egg in it and he felt that if it was vegan that would be the best way to be certain... but that seems roundabout and silly, he should ask if it has eggs and he should say he has an allergy or can't eat eggs or whatever.
they may have been mistaken. perhaps they are vegetarians. vegetarians dont eat meat. vegans dont eat dairy products or meat. its great that you want to understand the situation, figure out this mess--but i say you leave them be. dont try to live their live for them, let them make their own choices, just worry about YOUR choices as a vegan/vegetarian.
You are correct...All veggie burger are VEGGAN it means no animal bi-products on it. By putting cheese, he defeat the purpose of being veggan....That is funny, though
That does seem a bit strange. Maybe he's a vegetarian who is allergic to eggs (or doesn't eat them for other reasons), and he wanted to make sure the veggie burger was egg-free?
funny
your right
Sounds like he was just wondering if it already had cheese in it. A lot of gardemburgers do have cheese already in them and too much cheese can make certain people sick. He was probably vegetarian but just wanted a small bit of cheese on it.
yes vegan
weird guy....
it is not vegan
WOW. that is ah-mazzzing. Cheese is not vegan....everyone knows that. =p. Maybe he wasn't vegan but wanted a gradenburger...i am vegetarian and I order gardenburgers.
Cheese is not vegan.
I hope this helps!!!
Interesting point! *
I disagree with KC about cheese. Milk and eggs for that matter too. 1) I was an egg before I became a person by eating a swimming thing, 2) I was breastfed - does that make me a meat eating cannibal? Cheese is a milk product and not a piece of flesh. Also, I wonder if getting a lip piercing is devouring our own body and digesting the blood of yourself, and how about dentistry? We really are consumers. What are your thoughts?
i though vegans don't eat any thing that comes from an animal? I always thought cheese came from milk curd which comes from a cow which last time i checked was an animal.
I agree with you -- maybe a Mystery Shopper?
I think that he meant to say vegetarian. He slipped up and didn't want to correct himself. I don't think he was making a joke. Lots of people confuse vegetarian and vegan. Perhaps he is a new vegetarian and mixes up the two? Mmm... I'd like a garden burger right now.
odd - very odd because a true vegan would not eat swiss cheese - a vegetarian would because most swiss cheese is made with a vegetable based animal rennet these days but not a vegan.
Meat is murder... Tasty, delicious murder.
Oh, your question? Yeah, that's kinda funny.
I thought they just didn't eat meat!!!!
