Why do people have attitudes towards vegetarian's?!
Answers: i mean not all of us are mean towards people that eat meat i mean im not mean my mom and dad are meat eaters i have no say what people do im just against how they kill the animals i have been vegetarian for almost ayear but i do have to say i get alot of **** from people becouse im so skinny and i always get the thing like this your going to die if you dont eat me even though i am 99 pounds
It's too bad that some people have treated you poorly. I say shame on them. As you get older you will learn that there are different types of people and one of those types is the "judge" LOL! There truly is at least one in every family and every group of friends! When there are 2 or more - wow watch out! They talk behind your back! LOL!
Sweetheart you be a vegan if you want - that's your choice.
Since you asked the question you did however I assume that you are a real sweet girl and want to avoid confrontation? So my advice for that is that you do not tell them "I'm just against how they kill the animals" that way you are not making the other person feel bad either....what you might not see because I can tell you are truly worried about the animals, is that the other person is lashing back at you because they feel judged too. Best to just say, I don't do meat. Kinda like religion & politics not always smart to talk about it in mixed company.
Sometimes wearing someone elses shoes helps us to understand them a bit better.
Oh and I don't know how tall you are but unless you are 6 foot 99 pounds is not super skinny so don't let anyone scare you.
Peace to you dear.
i have nothing against vegetarian's, my son's teacher is one
Maybe their jealous because they don't have the willpower to not eat meat.
I think it appears that way because some vegans are like non/ex smokers who go around telling everyone how to live their life. You go on being a Vegan and don't let other people bother you. I'm a meat eater and have a very good friend who is Vegan. I don't mind eating Vegan but I do like my meat.
I'm an ex-smoker but I don't lecture people who smoke unless they're blowing it in my face and I either move or ask them to blow it the other direction.
okayyy. I am not a vegetarian buttt. My older brother is a Vegan tht means hr dosent eat mest of dairy he is in good shape he still eats&&it makes him happy so I agree with it I myself am a vegitarian on and off soo....... yeah it is hard for them but we owe those people respect
????????
hon, I have no problem with you being a vegetarian or thin.
but as a relatively new user of answers, I have been very surprised at the number of very militant vegetarians or vegans who express their views (quite aggressively) here. quite plainly their decision to become vegetarian or vegan has very political ramifications for them. I support utterly their right to exercise their beliefs, but just as strongly stand by my right to eat - or not eat meat- without forcing my views on others. if you are healthy and happy, surely that is all that really matters.
live long and prosper :-)
honestly we get jealous. i mean vegetarians tend to be a lot thinner than people who eat meat. its also that some vegetarians [i have met some like this] are like christian extremists [im christian but christian extremist are the worst] they try to shove their beliefs down your throat while being high-maitnence.
but there is nothing wrong with vegetarians really. but if you start making my burger talk while i eat it ill shove u in the slaughter house.
Well, plenty of people out there have unnecessary attitudes against anything or anyone they don't see as quiet "normal" in their opinion. So, given that humans by nature are omnivores, you may just be coming across some of those that have such an attitude.
One of my best friends is a vegan... She used to eat McDonald's, Burger King, KFC etc, etc.. back in the days but ever since she became a vegan, she looks down on everyone who even smells a piece of meat.
You stated that you are not like that, but this is one of the reasons that people have a negative attitude towards vegans/vegetarians.
Also ,being a vegetarian takes great deal of discipline and self-control and that is something that the majority of people do not have so they tend to resent it.
I have nothing against vegertarians either. I had a teacher who was one. But you should take some protein pills or something, because EVERY person, whether vegetarian or not, need protein. Thats also probably why your really skinny, and it could be bad.
But don't listen to those jerks, everyone has a right to eat what they want, and if you don't want to eat meat, then don't eat it. This is how i see it, its just their problem that you don't meat, not yours. So IGNORE THEM.
I guess they think vegetarians think they're better and more humane? I have never seen any attitude towards my brother, but I'm not with him 24/7. I think that non-vegetarians (M) have issues with vegetarians (V) because M feel like V are trying to press their beliefs and diets on them.
I'm a fat vegetarian (I know, crazy) but that's because I don't can only eat Spaghetti O's and crap like that because the people I live with suck. Anyway, you shouldn't be that skinny. Eat bananas and peanut butter!
But I agree, people are very condescending towards vegetarians. I got called a "granola-eating dyke." Not all vegetarians are gay. And we're not all tree huggers. And we're not all hippies. And we're not all potheads. And people act condescending towards us because they think we are vegetarians because we think animals are cute.
because it makes people look and think about their own choices and before they can respect other persons - different - choice they have to defend their own!
A lot of the times people may just feel guilty about eating animals, so they go on the overly defensive + aggressive to justify their own choices.
sometimes it depends on how people were raised, i have moved around a lot and i can see difference in the wayn people think - according to the geography!
but i think if you can live by example people can respect you and may or may not want to follow your choices.
You have to be the greater example in any situation if you want people to treat you with respect.
and sometimes people just suck! no really they do!
I have nothing against vegetarians. I just think it's weird that every vegetarian I've ever met has been defensive about being a vegetarian. And nearly every single one of them has been a rubbish cook.
I love food and I don't care if it has meat in it or not, as long as it tastes good (and doesn't feel like it's just outrageously bad for me, like deep-fried pizza or something). But most vegetarians I know happily cook up huge mounds of watery vegetables which they then serve up with apparent pleasure and expect me to eat. That's not cooking.
I have one vegetarian friend who insists on eating raw spinach, even though a.) it tastes unbearably bitter, at least to me, and b.) I've explained to her that it's not good for her, that cooking releases the nutrients in spinach which cannot be absorbed if you eat it raw. This is somebody with no palate. And most vegetarians I know are the same way.
People are ignorant. They all know someone who knew someone whose brother's neighbor was vegetarian and...
blahblahblah.
Most of them have never met an asshole vegetarian. They just "know" that's how we all are because they saw it in a movie once. Majority of them have no idea how many vegetarians they've met because shockingly, we don't look any different and most of us don't wear signs that say "i'm vegetarian."
They get pissy when they come in the V&V section, but it really says a lot when you purposely go into a V&V section and get mad that there are pro-vegetarian vegetarians in there. Go figure.
Eshla: Sometimes all it takes is an omnivore finding out you're vegetarian for them to do a 180 and treat you like **** even though they've known you for a long time and never had cause to. That's THEIR issue, not ours.
Also, for Anna, once you hang around long enough you'll start to figure out who's really vegetarian and which ones are omnivores pretending to be militant asshole vegans. Don't blame us. They're your people, not ours.
People don't like us because they know that we are superior human beings :) *wink wink*
It's unfortunate for you that you are 99 pounds, that is more likely the reason people give you attitude, if you weren't a vegetarian, they would call you anorexic... as long as you are healthy, you shouldn't let it bother you. Some people eat crappy food all day and get fat and they get teased too, be happy you are on the other end of the spectrum.
stay healthy and be strong!
I strongly agree to Anna G, DM, you'd never seen a real very "militant" vegetarians or vegans. Yet to see now.
You're thinking I'm one of those wise-as* or a**hole California vegetarians who is going to tell you that eating a few strips of bacon is bad for your health. I'm not. I say it's a free country and you should be able to kill yourself at any rate you choose, as long as your cold dead body is not blocking my driveway.
I know, it's pathetic how people look down on us.
A part of me feels they are jealous.. because we are healthy and we are strong willed and have a good heart.
They can say what they want, now watch all the flesh eaters flag me down for this haha just watch!
Some people don't like black people.
Some people don't like Asian people.
Some people don't like Muslim people.
Some people don't like disabled people.
Some people don't like vegetarians.
They're all f*ucking stupid and need to get over themselves.
why do vegans show so much hate towards meat eaters and try to preach to us ho wrong we are
