Buffets etc with special vegetarian option. I've found a solution. Will you try this?!
Vegetarians, it's time to get your own back. Fill your plate with non-vegetarian food and throw it away at the end. If someone says "Why have you got that when you're vegetarian?" you can say "Well, you didn't seem to mind depriving me of my lunch, so I assumed you wouldn't mind me depriving you of yours."
Answers: When there is a lunch laid on for say 12 people, 3 of which are vegetarian and there is a small tray of food marked "V" then the other 9 people happily tuck into the tray of food marked "V" leaving the vegetarians with little or no food. You've all seen it happen.

I'm a vegetarian and i must admit it does get on my nerves when other people tuck into the V food. They have so many options and we have so little so why it all ours? I might be tempted to try this idea next time i get frustrated with the meat eaters lol
i thought veggies grazed???? ;-)
You eat buffet ? Oh, how low-class.
;-)
I don't bother, its never a life-and-death situation, its not like I'll starve if i don't have anything to eat when i go out occassionally.
If the meatties want to eat veggie, and enjoy it, good for them, maybe they will take to it.
EDIT: You WORK ?? Oh dear it gets worse ;-)
I like the idea though ( for the buffet, not "working" ). I have noticed the same as you, the veggie food goes first. Which is strange, because judging by some comments on this site they would have you believe veggie food is like cardboard and will make you pale and weak.
"wire and string" ( which incidently was the name of the first model mobile phone i had ) is right actually, the more meat left, the less they provide next time. So maybe veggies should hand around the veggie plates to make sure it all goes ??
By that I mean get Jeeves to do it for you, obviously.
very very tempting..........
but what a waste of food.
yes it's happened to me, too.
so far i haven't found a suitable answer to this problem, apart from bringing it to the suppliers attention we need more or hiding my marked "V" trays!
Vegetarians don't eat meat, non vegetarians eat everything I see no problem with the non vegetarians eating everything and anything laid out as per your example but I do see a problem with wasteing food.
Why is it that vegetarians always insist on 'special' foods that no one else is allowed to have? The 'V' on the plates is a guidence to the veggies not a 'hands off' to the non veggies!
Surely the way to combat the problem above is to have a buffet that does not have any meat - everybody's happy :)
I think that they should let the vegetarians go up first, then the children, then everyone else lol that would solve it all!
I'm pretty sure that not eating meat includes not throwing it away to prove a point either. And anyway, if the vegetarian options disapear and they are left with a lot of meat for leftovers doesnt that motivate them to have more of the vegies next time?
I always announce myself to be the veggie in a very loud voice right at the very start, I ask if any one else is veggie and suggest that we get in first before it all goes. If anyone complains I tell them that I am so frail and ill that I will simply die in front of them if I don't eat NOW!
As I final resort I make sure I am first for the deserts while complaining that there was simply NOTHING LEFT FOR ME to eat in the main course.
Also when I have to order I only order veggie.
I don't think I would waste a plate of food in that way but I would jolly well let everyone know my feelings!!
Your reaction might be lost on you meat eating contemporaries. Typically, not eating meat is a choice not an allergy, so it's tends to not be respected or pitied. Your choice to throw away the meat based food is counterproductive. Your choice to not eat meat is most likely based on the idea that you don't feel comfortable eating the flesh of a once living animal; Yes? Well, since it's already dead doesn't it make sense to, at least, let it go to some use, instead of straight into the trash.
In the buffet situation, I would simply fast, and if anyone noticed, I'd tell them that the only foods that suited my diet where eaten, therefore, I would have to wait until dinner.
You should be talking to the people who provide the food, not acting like a jackass. The vegetarian marker is so you vegers can know it's vegetarian. It doesn't mean it's off limits to omnivores.
Talk to whoever orders the food and have them order enough for everyone. All you're doing with your plan is making vegetarians look bad and alienating yourself from the group.
Omnivores are just that, omnivores which means meat and vegetables... so I don't see why it should be an issue if they eat veggies.. Really, foods are labeled as "V" so vegetarians will know that it's "safe" to eat, not that it's for their exclusive consumption.. and the suggestion of wasting food to "get back" at people for an imagined slight seems a bit crass don't you think?
it's the damn caterers fault for not serving enough food..
Why waste food? The whole point of being of being vegatarian is to stop cruelty to animals not add to it.
Hahaha sounds like that should be amusing. I'd feel guilty that I'd thrown the meaty food away though because the animal would have died for nothing.
