Peta............?!
Answers: i know i may sound like a bit of a hypocrite here but im really interested in joining peta, against animal cruelty, the thing is is that im not a veggie, im against animals being treated bad and tested on etc, but still eat meat, what shall i do?
I think you should join an organization that doesn't kill so many animals. Look at PETA from 2006:

How about joining Compassion in World Farming? Very topical, with the programmes shown on Channel 4 recently and the reports about veal in the news today.

You can join PETA if you like, but they will probably just try brainwashing you into not eating meat, which isnt bad, but they are a bit too extreme at times. If you want to help animals, you can always donate to a humane society or ASPCA, who actually help animals, yes PETA boycotts and what not, but do they actually provide funding to help a dog with a broken leg or whatever? It's up to you
I'm vegan and I don't really like PETA. Some of the reasons for that are listed here:

I would suggest supporting animal rights efforts in other ways.
Animals being tested on would be vivisection, here's an anti-vivisection society:

Also, try to help out in your own way. Donate time and much-needed supplies to local animal shelters that would otherwise put down dogs and cats to cover costs. Volunteer to wash out cages and purchase and drop off food, doggy pee pads and other necessities.
Also try to look into the Humane Society, I like them more than PETA.
well i wouldn't join PETA, if they had there was we wouldn't even own any pets...........http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
I think it would be a good idea tho for you to join a reputable charity tho, then maybe you will gradually become wise to the cruelty involved in getting meat onto the table
try www.animalaid.org.uk
Go for it ~ good luck x
It won't matter if you're not a veggie - the fact that you want to help a charity that wants animals to be treated well is the important bit. The charity will be glad that you want to help animals have a better life regardless of your eating habits.
Unless you want to be a part of a marginalized radical group many people dislike, PETA is the LAST group you should consider joining... There ar more worthy groups and orgs that hsare your concerns.. Start with local groups within your area so you can have a more active participation rather than just as an on-line donor or member
What are your reasons for wanting to join PETA? If it's animal cruelty, maybe you *should* take a second look at your diet.
By the way, PETA and vegetarianism are not synonymous. There are omnivorous PETA members and there are vegetarians who don't support PETA.
You don't have to be vegetarian to join PETA... PETA has many other campaigns involving animal testing, fur, animal circuses, and spaying/neutering. Some of its celebrity supporters eat meat but participate in the anti-fur campaigns, for instance.
So I'd definitely join them if you are against animal cruelty. It's one of the most successful and driven animal advocacy organizations out there. PETA's good work is such a threat to the animal-abusing industries that a lobbying group for the meat industry has started smear campaigns and deceptive websites against PETA!
The website to join is https://ebiz.isiservices.com/peta-e/peta...
Hope this helps and thanks for your interest in helping animals.
i'm thinking of joining too. although i am vegetarian, its not totally relevant to peta. you can still join if you eat meat but avoid any cruelly reared meat .some people say that peta will kill animals. i read that they did kill some dogs rescued from cruel breeders, that couldnt be re homed . peta said its better to put them out of their misery than to allow them to continue in sad lives .i agree with that. peta may be misguided at times but mainly they do well for animals
You don't have to be a vegetarian but I would buy organic meat where the animal wasn't torchered. Also do not eat at KFC

Also if you have a myspace please add

There are many organizations that help animals so if you decide PETA isn't right for you please go to myspace.com/amethystphantasm and look at my blog where I have listed several sites.
PETA are seriously dodgy, as a little bit of digging on the Internet will show you.

There are plenty of other reputable organisations that promote animal welfare, like the RSPCA in the UK.
