Why would my parents invite me over for dinner and make veal?!

Question: I am never speaking to them again.

Answers: I am never speaking to them again.

You poor dear, I know how it feels to have so many immoral people involved in your life. Thank God that we moral vegans have found a place to unite against such immorality!

two seperate accounts, huh? Man your life must be boring as hell. Report It

  • Because you are ASHLEY and they love you as much as we do.
What would we do without you around here?
Although I must say you are slipping, this is a BORING question. We know you can do better.
Come on, don't you have a neighbor you're spying on that you can see eating meat and you are going to go pour bleach in their gas tank because they are so immoral??

Are your parents vegetarian? Were you vegetarian when you lived with them? Do they have any real concept of what being vegetarian means?

    Never is a long time.

same reason when i turned veggie and went to my fathers house for dinner and told him i didn't eat meat anymore he went and got KFC. before i told him of my change in diet it was supposed to be my choice in dinner that night. i have learned to eat before i go there for dinner, b/c this kind of thing happens everytime.

Ashley!!!. We missed you. Food and Drink is never as entertaining as when you are available. You need to get a bit more off the wall with your questions however. You used to ask much better questions

That's a horrible reason to never speak to your parents again. A lot of people don't totally understand the vegetarian thing. Why don't you invite them over to your house and serve them a vegetarian meal.

This is why: "I am never speaking to them again."

Ashley--"Thank God that we moral vegans have found a place to unite against such immorality!"--where's that?

That is AWFUL! I am a vegetarian, and I know if my parents did that to me, I would refuse to eat. I guess, they are trying to show you that they disapprove of your decision. As long as you eat properly, exercise enough and sleep well (keep yourself healthy), they should respect your decision.

Because veal is a tasty little animal. Yum.

Do your parents even know you are a vegetarian? Have you ever told them? Also, was it a last minute thing...like you were talking to your mom on the phone and complaining about not having plans for the evening and she invited you over. Because it that's the case, get over it. Were there other things available for you to eat? Talk to your parents if this bothers you so much, don't just cut them out of your lives over something they might not even beaware was an issue for you.

Sometimes parents forget what their children likes to eat or what they don't eat. It took my parents a couple years before they remember that I don't eat beef. I would just relax and explain/remind your parents why you don't eat veal.

For them to eat. They don't have to go veg just to eat dinner with you,do they? thats not cool

Well, that's a bit rude of you. I mean, your mother did go through hours of agnoizing labor to bring you into the world. parents have a hard time accepting vegetarianism. mine still do. but two un-accepting attitudes do not make a right one.

PS Bluesea... you've got the wrong Ashley!

Well, I don't know who you are, but next time you go over (and yes, you will speak to them again) bring your own food. If someone doesn't respect your choices, why sink to their level of childishness? *I am never speaking to them again* is just silly...next time, bring yourself a great big veggie burger, sweet potato fries and a salad...and a cheesecake for everyone to share. Be the bigger veggie....

I have no idea. I am not your parents nor am I psychic. You should at least talk to them and find out why, do they know you are a vegetarian? Talk with them, let them know, also talk to them about how cruel animal eating is.

Because they wish they'd raised you similarly to a veal calf, "ashley"

I understand your anger. I can't imagine anything that would make me angrier than going over to someone's house and their having prepared veal. Well, yes, I can. If they prepared fois gras--then I'd be smoking angry and would never go to their home again.

You might want to talk to your parents and let them know that although you are vegetarian, you understand they are not and will accept their cooking some meats, but that at a minimum, veal is unacceptable when you are invited to dine at their home.

    Even they hate you.

Hmmmmmmm..... I wonder why you haven't convert them to be vegans yet Ashley..........tsk tsk tsk

Cause baby animals are ALWAYS tastier!! mmmmmmm...
