Why do meat eaters go on the veggie/vegan category if they're just going to insult people???!
Answers: Fair enough for people who are genuinely interested or have something relevant to say. But why just answer to offend someone?! It really annoys me...
The Three Phases of Truth:
a) ridicule
b) violent opposition
c) acceptance
Historically, mainstream cultures have adjusted to new views, such as 'the earth isn't flat; it's round' by ridiculing and opposing the beliefs first.
Vegetarian/veganism is NOT a new view:
"The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men."
-- Leonardo da Vinci, artist and scientist
Change is super-slow. With the internet, people see more views than ever, which make the views suddenly seem more prominent. We can insult each other without a direct consequence.
I have no idea if this could be what is happening now. It seems odd to me that people go out of their way to bash a belief that shouldn't affect them unless they own a factory farm.
Some people may be going through the phases of truth. Maybe? Maybe they want to upset vegetarians and vegans because they can point a finger at how 'worked up' people get trying to defend their choices.
It reminds me of the stereotype of hardcore homophobes who suddenly come out of the closet.
cause they are immoral being
half this site is people just trying to be mean..just to be mean.
Becasue they are rude!
They're just more nasty-minded folk. Ignore them, they'll get bored and go and be nasty elsewhere.
i agree i come on here for fun and to help people the few who just abuse people are spoiling the site
anyone insulting me for being an eat meater will be forced to watch me eat a blue steak with lots of blood pouring out. so there! hahaha x
Well, I don't 'go on' any particular category, I just browse questions as they come up on the main page, and if I see someone trumpeting the virtues of a narcissistic and unnatural diet, I may feel inclined to chip in my three pennies worth!
That's how answers works - it is a public domain, you can't create you own little club where only confirmatory and encouraging things are allowed!
What I don't understand is why there is a whole meat-eaters vs veggies/vegan war going on at Yahoo Answers in the first place. That annoys me.
Pick a real cause to get fired up about... like people who go hungry everyday... fight to end world hunger and global poverty, not over your dinner preferences.
It is pointless.
@ Ms Z - so you don't want to eat the cattle because that would be cruel... but starving the cattle is ok?
Because they don't get their 5 portions a day ...
because theyre mean. and they should go play in traffic. but what goes around comes back around~!~
they are sad evil little people
i am sorry to say this is happening all over every section spiteful nasty answers, just take no notice carry on like there not there, you have your views i have mine, live and let live and i am a meat eater, but like i have said whatever floats your boat !!!
Where else would they go to insult a vegan?
Truthful answer - the question is posted in Answers home - general questions as well. When the person is reading the other questions they see the stupid stuff that comes out of vegans mouths and respond.
They don't go to the vegan site - your questions are on the main page just like everyone elses. No one is hunting you - everyone sees the questions from all categories on the main page.
You have re-phrased your question. I will re-phrase my answer because people who have logic and intelligence are irked by foolishness and phony statistics and fallacious reasoning. They see something stupid or illogical and it is a knee jerk reaction.
They expect us to head every question with "Attn: veg*ans"
or "vegetarians only" so that t hey don't have to see what we are really talking about.
=============
Kat - FYI, cattle aren't supposed to be fed grain. They're supposed to eat grasses.
Bullies have always picked on people who are different. Now with the Internet, everyone can hide their faces and become the "bully". It is hard when you are trying to find support or understanding, you put in some time to answer or ask a question and someone is just trolling or give mean and insulting answers.
It's discouraging I know, but try to filter out the negative, don't fall to their level and keep encouragement and support high, you never who's day you can turn around.
@ Kat: Currently, more than 70 percent of the U.S. grain harvest -- and more than one third of the grain produced in the world is fed to cattle and other livestock. We could provide proper nourishment to more than a billion people if we used the world's agricultural lands to grow food for human consumption rather than feed for cattle and other livestock.
Education is Key!
The pet/dog section is every bit as snappy and prejudice!
It really is everywhere - human nature, exaggerated by the anonymity of the PC screen!
They're jealous and they've got nothing better to do than bash on our healthy lifestyle.
It's been my experience that *some* meat-eaters feel somewhat threatened by vegetarians-- since we're living evidence that humans can be healthy, happy & enjoy *lots* of good food without consuming flesh, ppl who choose to eat meat are tacitly making the choice to contribute to suffering and would rather not acknowledge this. I suspect that most omnivores who understand where their food comes from, realize that there are alternatives & are ok with their personal dietary choice *aren't* slamming vegetarians although they may come to this section with a *real* question, which is fine.
As for the rudeness, it's in every section that I've visited & the insults seem to mostly come from very young ppl (note the spelling in many of them), kids who feel "big & bad-a**" for their rudeness. Also, some ppl will say anything, even if it is rude or absurd, just for their 2 points & perhaps these points shouldn't be awarded for a "pointless" response.
Because they're bored and don't have anything better to do. Or maybe to get back at a veg person who got them angry...i don't know but i try to ignore it
because people are afraid of things they don't understand. And when people are afraid, they attack.
If you look at many of those accounts that are making such replies - you will see that most of them are very new - as the same day they make the comment or just a few days before that - and if the way that they word things is a good indicator - many of them are kids - that evidently have no life off a computer - or a childish adult that has no life off a computer.
I take little if any consideration of the 'new accounts' that so many seem to keep getting at the drop of a hat.
What's wrong with eating meat?
I would suggest its because most veggiez take theirselves and their lives a little too seriously
