Does eating red meat make someone more aggresive?!

Question: My Aunt said she thinks that red meat makes people aggressive. Do you think this could be true?

I think so, every try and take a steak from a hungry carnivore, lol watch out!

More aggressive? I don't really think so. I'm not a HUGE meat eater, but I do enjoy red meat here and there. I'm not aggressive at all, at least I don't think so.

No way! That is ridiculous.

Uh what! That's crazy,it's not the meat itself that causes the issues it's all the hormones and antibiotics and pesticide infested food the animal eats. Aggression has nothing to do with the food you eat.

Not red meat alone......a diet that is high in fat and sodium/sugar. People that replace most of their veggie intake for meat and or junk possibly but on it's own, red meat (depending on the diet and cut of the animal) provides stable energy.

I really don't think so. I serve it all the time and I see no difference in the aggressiveness of the family. and I have 6 people to observe. now if you add sugar to the equation you will have 4 kids climbing walls and acting like monkeys. lol just kidding but you get the idea.

No i cant see how that would be true , I"m not any more aggressive now than I was 10 years ago , an I have ate red meat all of them 10 years , an it would have kicked in by now !

that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard

i cant see that being true

There might be an indirect correlation, but I really don't think red meat causes aggression directly.

There should be other factors considered as well - what is the age, race, background and health history of people who eat a diet that is heavy in red meat? What is their income level, where do they live? Perhaps outside influences might cause them to eat a lot of red meat AND might cause them to be aggressive. It is up to interpretation to determine what is causing the aggression.

None of your sources are exactly unbiased sources. Certainly I've heard of people in anger-management cutting out red meat. I couldn't find any unbiased sources online in a good five minute long search through Google that confirmed a direct correlation between red meat intake and aggression.

There is also a misconception that men who eat red meat are more aggressive, that eating red meat is masculine and macho, that it somehow makes you manly. This sort of ties into how men who choose NOT to eat red meat (or don't eat any meat at all) are ridiculed as gay, weak, unmanly, a pansy, etc.

So, to carry on that train of thought, it might be a subliminal, psychological thing then - really aggressive men might eat a lot of red meat because it gives them a sense of power, it makes them believe they are more masculine and it fuels their aggressive nature. I've had guy friends who thought it was manly to eat an enormous bloody steak, and I've noticed that their mood and attitude would change when it came to eating something like that - it almost makes me think of Tim Allen's stand-up bit about men regressing to a caveman like grunting sound when they do "manly" stuff like operate a lawn mower or kill a deer and eat it.

Interesting question.

There have been links to hormones, chemicals and antibiotics contained in the flesh of animals causing various effects in humans. As for how strong the link is, that is up for debate.

Only if your a dog or wild animal.

Maybe..if there were no plants left and people had to fight over meat i could see how they would be aggressive to survive. But other than that,i think its bologna

noooooo dont believe in what people say!!!!!!
