Being a vegan and going to the bathroom?!
Answers: I just started following the vegan guidlines, and was wondering does not eating meat make you go to the bathroom more. I have just recently recovered from Ulcerative Colitis and stopped eating meat. It just seems like I go to the bathroom a little more since I stopped eating meat.
It's possible, you're probably eating a lot more fiber now. You REALLY should check with your doctor to make sure it isn't related to a return of the colitis. Sometimes poorly digestible carbohydrate sources can irritate your intestines again so try to watch what sorts of fiber you take in - a lot of indigestible fiber (like in some plant sources) may be harmful, especially since with colitis your body probably has had problems with absorbing nutrients and easily reacted to food passing through you to begin with.
Yes, because meat is harder for your body to break down and process through you, so you will go more often or I should say sooner after you eat.
you will probably become a lot more regular on a vegetarian diet. It might take a while to adjust though...
Congratulations on taking care of yourself and reversing your disorder with healthier eating!
I think that in the absence of meat, you're likely eating higher amounts of fiber which would take you on more trips to the toilet than before. You should now spend less time sitting on the toilet than before, so it's a trade-off.
If you really want to cleanse, try eating all raw for a week. I didn't notice intestinal changes upon becoming a vegetarian, or later when I became vegan, but when I eat mostly raw foods, my stomach is the flattest it's ever been! Processed foods are clogging up people's digestive tracts. I've heard that meat and dairy do the most damage. I think about melted cheese on a spoon, and how it sticks and needs to literally be scraped off, and imagine that is what might happen to our insides when we eat cheese.
Eat flax seed crackers with avocados and you will eliminate more. Assuming you can get to the bathroom, it's a good thing. It definitely takes a little adjusting, but your body will normalize as you get a system going.
I don't know anything about ulcerative colitis, so you may want to consult a dietician before eating more roughage. I have found a high percentage of greens to be very natural, alkalinizing, and healing, and want to share that with anyone interested in optimal health!
Good luck!
When You Are A Vegetarian You Tend To Eat More Fiber But Still Have Lots Of Protein And Then It Makes Your Body Healthier And You Go To The Bathroom More!
The excess usage of the "pot" is more than likely your brains being depleated...
Beef....Thats whats for dinner!
Chances are you're getting a lot more fiber.
Also, the foods you're eating are ones that you should be, instead of meat, which is harder for your body to break down.
This is normal, it happens to most vegans.
Don't worry, it's healthy :)
You want rotting feces to stay in your body for less time.
It's not bad unless it comes out whole.
Biologically, food pass through our ingestive system...
veggies/fruits for 20-24hrs.
Cooked meat & solid food for 35-40 hrs.
Raw meat for 45-50 hrs.
