Vegan extends to other areas of your life, not just food. It's a lifestyle that seeks to avoid explotation and use of animals as food, clothing, entertainment and so on. We don't eat any animal products. No meat (yes, chicken and fish are meat), eggs, dairy, honey, cochineal, carmine, gelatin, and anything else animal derived. No leather, fur, silk, beeswax, wool, angora, and so on. We avoid animal testing and animal products in our soaps, shampoos, cleansers, and anything else we use, wear, or eat. We don't support circuses, traditional zoos and aquariums, etc.

Why do you want to be vegan if you don't know what it entails? Veganism is a choice. We CAN use/eat/wear what we want. We don't WANT to eat/wear/use animal products, and we CHOOSE not to.

Congrats on making healthy and ethical choice for yourself.

This is my favorite cookbook:

The Voluptuous Vegan: More Than 200 Sinfully Delicious Recipes for Meatless, Eggless, and Dairy-Free Meals

It has kind of complicated recipes though - do you like to cook? Being vegan means it wil be harder to eat out. Learning to cook well will make life a lot easier - and tastier.

What you need to do is research.

being vegan is more then diet and it can be difficult. without cheese and eggs, you need to replace some protein if you aren't vigilant with your diet. You want to be a smart vegan :)

So read up...here is a good starting site http://www.vegan.org/

It can be hard at first, and you obviously want this, so the better prepared you are, the more chance you will have at success and a happy vegan life.

this site:

give information on protein, how much you need etc. You should figure out what is high in protein and make sure that you eat enough.

Remember that people might not be nice or pleasant to you, so the more you know the better.

Go Vegan :)

Taking into account that during the millons of years that humans and animals have been burried on, and in, this earth, every atom you eat right now has, at some time, been part of a human or animal. There can't be any real, pure, veggie.
Adios.
