Is the MEAT INDUSTRY alarmed with the rapid change in eating habits?!

Question: Vegans and Vegetarians are growing in numbers every day and that means less profit for the meat industry.
How are they going to cope in 20 years time?

The meat industry will start to show that their meat is clean and cruelty free! - erm,, I don't think so, simple not when they are more concerned about money versus the health of the people and the animals.

Have you noticed that on the recent tyson meat ad's they say, "hormone free", its little things like that, which will let people think they are eatng healthy! - but really people are not. Just look around you, see how many fat people are walking around - not healthy!

Marketing is a wonderful thing! for telling lies! you can get people to eat sh!t, it you market it right! - oh they already do!lol

Do an experiment: next time you are in the mall, stand in one place and account the next twenty people that walk pass you, more then 60 % will be overweight!

Maybe. The meat industry does everything they can to make sure that profits don't backslide... they'll probably push for further manipulations of the Dietary Guidelines that the USDA writes, and their lobbyists will push for even more meat-laden government-paid school lunch contracts.

I wish it looked like the meat industry was suffering. I stood in line behind someone buying two whole chickens at a grocery store. They were five dollars each. I hope my life is worth more than five dollars...

Hopefully most of the Human Race will be able to transition over within my lifetime. Could you imagine that? EVERYONE Vegetarian!

No. Vegers are growing in numbers but so are omnis. The population of the world is increasing across the board. The % of vegers isn't increasing much though. In 20 years time it might increase by 1% or 2% tops.

I would hardly call the change "rapid." For every person who decides to undertake the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, there are a hundred mindless carnivores who pass their gluttonous habits on to their bevy of obese children.

Sadly, the profitability of factory farming, and the disgusting addiction America has to ground beef-based fast food will insure that there will always be a high demand for the meat industry.

I don't think so. Meat prices are stable (no shortages implying less production nor glut in supply implying less consumption), meat production is stable (in fact increasing), milk or dairy production AND consumption remains very high, dairy products production AND consumption such as ice cream, yoghurt. cream, cheese remains high. The number of vegetarians iin western societies (the ones that claim the highest increase) remains at an average of 5-6% ( and that already includes those who claim to be vegetarians but consume fish/seafood and poultyry) and that number is even lower in some eastern European countries. In fact, the best evidence that meat production is in fact increasing, partcularly cattle, is that the environmental groups are pointing out the effects of increased greenhouse gasses produced by cattle. Also, the animal feed industr remains a lucrative enterprise..
Internationally, Chinese hog farms and hog products exports are at their highest in thirty years. There is an increased demand for high quality kapanese beef (wagyu/kobe) and pork (Kurobuta). And despite bird flu scares world wide, Asian industrialized and bakckyard poultry farms continue to grow. Australian and new Zealand beef and sheep production remains steady with a slight increase.

By going vegan themselves.

It is like how less and less smokers are here now due to them realizing it is bad for their health and environment, and the tobacco is trying to lure people in with advertisements and such, same thing with the animal product industry (except animals are also victims), then the smokers at the tobacco company realizes they were wrong and quits...

During the millions of years that human beings and animals have been killed and burried, every molecule and atom on this earth has been part of a human or animal at some point of time.
Just recycling.
So, no dilusions, please...

They'll all have died off from heart disease by then.

that's propaganda...

sorry, not falling for it.. but that's ok you can keep eating your meat.. no one's going to fault ya for your inevitable death..

20 min. from now.
