Is it possible to be a vegeterian but still eat fish at least once a week?!
Answers: I wanna become a vegeterian and I'am willing to give up meat but not fish=( Thank U all!!!
of course. honey, you're going vegetarian, not vegan. i am vegetarian. i eat fish. so go for it! and if you want to find choices, go to www.peta2.com. tond of options once you go vegetarian! Good luck and i'm glad you're making this desicion :DD
Then you're not really a vegetarian. It's certainly possible and good for you to keep eating fish, but there really isn't a label for that.
No, you are not a vegetarian if you intend to keep eating fish... however, you can eat whatever diet you like if you want, just don't call yourself a vegetarian if you are still eating meat/animal flesh.
You should eat however you like, and if you want to eat fish once a week go for it, any reduction in consuming animal flesh is a benefit to the environment and to your health. Just don't say you are vegetarian if you still eat fish, because by definition vegetarians don't eat any animal flesh period... and it might confuse people, which is where the misconception that vegetarians eat fish comes from.
Listen you can eat what you want to eat. Dont worry about being able to label yourself one way or another. Just eat what makes you feel healthy and happy.
But to answer your question: i know a lot of people who call themselves "vegetarian" but eat fish. I never saw the sense in it, but it is totally okay!!
MUCH HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO YOU
Most would refer to that as a pescatarian (sp). Its just fine if it works for you. there are no rules its just about being aware of what you are eating and the consequences of those choices.
vegetarian means no meat, so you wouldnt be vegetarian.
just someone who only eats fish.
No, your most certainly not a vegetarian if you eat an animal. Vegetarians don't eat living creatures and animals, that includes fish. So no, you are not a vegetarian if you eat fish.
Vegetarians by definition do not eat animal flesh of any kind. Fish are animals.
You can still give up as you say "meat" if you choose to and how and what you eat is your choice, but no you wouldn't be considered a vegetarian.
Nope. Vegetarians do not eat the flesh of any animal, and last time I checked, fish are animals. It's the Catholic Church and the Jewish laws of kashrut (dietary laws) that are to blame for this conundrum. The Catholic Church declared fish was not meat--I guess so good Catholics could have some animal flesh on meatless Fridays. And the laws of kashrut don't include fish among fleishedig (meat) foods. It's often served with milchidig (dairy) foods.
But I get a little pissy when someone thinks a vegetarian can have fish because it causes a whole lot of confusion for real vegetarians who don't eat animals. So if you're going to eat fish, please don't call yourself a vegetarian. Thank you.
Look, you either want to be a vegetarian or you want to eat fish. But the two don't go together. Vegetarians do not eat dead animals. That is the definition of the word. Fish are animals, therefore vegetarians don't eat them. Now, if you want to cut out all meat except fish from your diet, I applaud you for it. It's a healthy way to eat and it makes a dent in animal suffering. Any step in that direction is a good one. But please don't confuse the issue by calling yourself a vegetarian while continuing to eat flesh.
Vegans cannot eat any meat, fish, honey, eggs, dairy, etc. Vegetarians can eat eggs, dairy, honey, and fish. Not all vegetarians are the same, so some eat fish and some don't (as well as the other items mentioned).
Then you won't be a true vegetarian.. You can call yourself a semi-vegetarian cause you won't be a true vegetarian. A vegetarian doesn't eat any meat whatsoever! Fish is A meat!
Fish doesn't come from a garden of vegetables. Fish comes from the ocean! Fish is a water animal that is meat!
You would be a pescatarian:)
Flexitarians can eat fish in moderation.

No, vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, poultry nor slaughter by-products
check out my profile to see what all the major veggie organisation say about it.
However, your meat-reduction diet is a great step towards this.
So, don't apologise for your diet, just don't call yourself a vegetarian.
Please don't fall into the trap of calling yourself a "semi" or "flexi" vegetarian - there really is no such thing and it causes much confusion.
best of luck with it
Well the short answer is no you cannot be a vegetarian a eat any sort of animal.
What you are describing is a pescatarian that is what people who don't eat meat but eat fish are called.
You can give yourself any label that you so desire if that makes you happy.
But if your going to want to actually represent what something is - it is best to go with the def. of that word found within the dictionary.
Example - I could call myself an orange, but that doesn't change the reality that such is not the case.
Eat whatever you want. Why is it important to call yourself "vegetarian?"
There must of been some information you found to stop eating meat, and in that congratulations. Many pescatarians choose to eat fish because they think the Omega 3s, outweigh the mercury and other toxins. I strongly disagree with that and get my Omegas from flaxseed.
Most restaurant fish are factory farmed, where diseases are rampant, and overuse of antibiotics is the norm, just like regular factory farms for cattle/pigs/broilers.
a person who eats fish and shell fish is a pescetarian not a vegetarian. (what you choose to eat is Your choice-and the only person who has to be ok w/ it is You) To the person who got snarky and said that he is vegan and eats fish-and advised all to "do your research" fish is not flesh!? RU SERIOUS!! I pretty much go by the "it has a heartbeat, a blood supply, a central nervous system, a face, feels pain and is a living creature" classification. Research is great, but how about letting common sense prevail?
I say you can.
yes u can. you can eat fish and be vegetarian. ur just not vegan. i think its great that u are helping to save the world like me
listen- do your research people. fish and seafood is not meat. look up the word meat. it doesn't say animal flesh. i have been a vegan for ever. i cook it and serve it but won't eat it. yes- your a vegatarian, not vegan if you eat fish- i hate when people talk without knowing anything about it.
