It's firm or extra firm (tofu comes in many degrees of firmness.) Sauteed in oil.

Buy extra firm tofu. Drain it. Slice it, and fry it on up! Sautee a few of your favorite veggies along with it, and top with a zesty, exciting sauce (either homemade, or from a jar or can) and serve over rice, or alone.

it sounds like it was quickly fried. a lot of restaurants make their own tofu. its not healthy but you could deep fry it very quickly and it would probably taste similar.

I detest tofu. I can't stand it. I almost throw up every time I even look at it.

So many tofu that I don't know the name. but this is definitely a chinese type of tofu (there are indian tofu as well). Just make sure you're not getting mapo tofu or tahu, those are soft.

Seems like it is the extra firm tofu fried.

it's called junk...

sorry if you're a vegan/vegetarian you wouldn't eat this garbage..

NEXT!

There are many different types of tofu. It sounds like it is a type of deep fried tofu. Was is kind of light and fluffy on the inside? If you like it you can buy it at an Asian grocery store in the refrigerated section. (You can't buy regular tofu and fry it, it is not the same.)

Deep fried tofu is firm/extra firm tofu deep fried and then put in some kind of sauce. If you remember what it was, maybe general tso, kung pao, pad thai....something like that, you can buy bottled sauces and just add that.
