Why do people think that vegtables are disgusting?!

Question: It's obvious that in daily life people are strongly influenced. whether It's by your mum and dad, friends, bullies, harassments, radio, commercials etc. It's being influenced for good or bad It's obvious. but one of the main things that influences people is television. On television commercials/shows it influences that junk food is good and vegtables and fruit is bad. These shows include the Simpson's, Family guy, Recess School's Out etc.
Do you agree????

Well, most of those shows are watched by kids ages 6-13, so I think they're just trying to appeal to their demographic. I for one love vegetables. They're light and full of valuable nutrients, not to mention they taste great (most of the time).

Vegetables can be disgusting depending on the type of vegetable we are talking about. I honestly think that broccoli taste like **** and I hate the smell of celery. Grosss.

There is a Simpson's episode where Homer and Bart sing, "You don't make friends with salad." :P
But heh, I like most veggies....but not brussel sprouts, or cauliflower or radishes or broccoli or beets or spinach, but I love cucumbers.

I know people who won't eat vegetables now because their parents served them steamed or boiled into a disgusting mush when my friends were kids. I'm sure thats a factor for others, too.

I love my vegetables as I love my meat.
People have been knocking one type of vegetable or another all of my life.
I hated broad-beans, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. Mum boiled the crap out of them.

yeah i agree that the media is a big influence on the way people think.
I love vegetables,
most people don't like them because they are not sugary or salty

well ya on family guy and Simmons that's for older people so they should understand its a joke...but ya i agree with you! that they shouldn't advertise that. you can always make veggies better! spinige is nasty but with cheese that's good, so ya it all depends on how its cooked i guess

i dont understand that because i love veggies, esp the usual offenders like broccoli etc

Because parents like to boil them to mush!

Coz they've all been brain washed in into wanting really greasy, deep fried, super sized, extra cheesy, super meaty, double patties from McDonald, Burger King, KFC etc. Eeeeeewwwwww!!!! Now that’s what I call gross. Not broccoli or cauliflower.

Totally AGREE =0)

Kids see thousands upon thousands of commercials--mostly for unhealthy foods, soda, and toys--by the time they're 18. So I would agree the media have some influence.

But a big problem is the vegetables aren't cooked properly. Cook something to tasteless mush, and of course kids aren't going to like it. Kids also have sensitive palates and some foods might be too strong for them. I personally hate broccoli, but if they're cooked right, I'll eat cauliflower, zucchini, and spinach. I'm just learning to like other greens (kale is pretty good in a raw salad, and I had raw collard leaves recently that were pretty good, if a bit bitter).

Cook a vegetable right, and chances are people will learn to like it.
