Is it TRUE that extra virgin coconut oil has GOOD saturated fat?!
Answers: It says so on the jar but am just wondering about that claim. Seems to be since I bought it at a well-known health food market. Should I still eat it in moderation?
Yes. Especially if you're getting unrefined extra virgin and consuming it raw & unheated.
I'm not sure how much you'd be eating, but you should only take 1-2 Tbsp a day at most.
That's what I hear, I hear that's what you want to use
No such thing as good saturated fat.
You know what Virgin coconut oil is really good for ur healt. it kills cancer cells. and healthen ur heart.. try it
i don't mean to sound preachy and stuff but all oils especially mineral oils (virgin coconut oils, olive oils, mineral oils in general) can be pathogenic (disease causing).
there's a medical condition called LIPOGRANULOMA (oil tumor).. it happens when there are excess fat deposits in the body. it happens when there is too much oil, it clumps up and progresses into mass that eventually becomes a tumor.
it occurs in the eyes, sometimes the cervix and the male genitalia, we can't be too sure that we can consume a lot of mineral oils regularly, can we?
i'm not a healthy healthie but i'd rather get my fats in nuts and use oil in my food to cook it or make a salad dressing or something, not eat it as it is... actually you don't "eat" it. you drink it. like suspension medicines.
all oils must be used in moderation! :)
hope that helps
The user above is correct who said there is no such thing as "good saturated fat". The only HEALTHY FATS are mono and polyunsaturated fats. Saturated fats increase your LDL which is the bad cholesterol. Unsaturated fats lower LDL's and increase HDL (good cholesterol).
This is why extra-virgin olive oil is a much healthier choice and growing rapidly in popularity.
Where I live, it has become a popular panacea.. a cure all for everything from diabetes to cancers.. tee are suppose to be some scientific proof that it does what it claims.. I tried it and it was kinda hard to swallow and all... didn't really notice any difference (but i was not sick to begin with and reasonably healthy anyway).. But my burps smelled "pleasantly coconuty" as my wife likes to say. Recommended "dose " about a teaspoon a three times a day or after every meal.
the bottle says though that "No approved therapeutic claims".
YES it is very good for you, as is Olive Oil.
ALL Fats should be eaten in extreme moderation.
