Can anyone recommend a better vitamin, or am I okay with this one?!


Question: I've been vegetarian for a little under three years now. I've never felt tired, weak, or anything. I've been to the doctor a couple of times and i'm doing great. However, I've made the decision to take vitamins anyway.
I am currently taking "Natures Made B-12) Vitamins daily.

Do you think this is truley beneficial for me?

I don't need to be taking any, i'm just always looking for new ways to improve my health, thanks :)

Ps: Please don't tell me to eat fish lol, because that would contadict the whole thing.. Some people just don't understand that.

B12 can be low in a vegetarian diet but most soymilks are fortified with plenty. The one I drink has 50% per serving. I also drink a chai tea from Bolthouse Farms and it's also loaded with B12. Ok, now it sounds like I'm product promoting, but these have helped me.

Bottom line, most veget/vegans don't need supplements despite what ignorant people will tell you. The exception is that if you are eating a mainly raw diet, you will need B12.

B-12 is really good...But your diet is what really counts

Taking vitamins is a great idea, but B12 isn't enough. If you are truly concerned about the amount of vitamins you are taking in (and vitamins are so important) talk to your local pharmacist. He/She will be able to, in a few minutes, look at what you're eating and what different kinds of vitamins you need to be taking.

B12 isn't a very general vitamin, it's too specific, so if you think you're missing something, and don't want to visit a pharmacy, try a general daily vitamin that includes B12 as well as other vitamins.

Meeting nutritional needs
If you choose to be vegetarian you need to plan your diet to make sure it includes all the essential nutrients. The wider the variety of foods you eat, the easier it will be to meet your nutritional requirements. Some essential dietary requirements, which could be missing from a vegetarian diet if it isn’t carefully planned, include:
Protein: obtained from other
Minerals (including iron, calcium and zinc)
Vitamin B12
Vitamin D.

you lack 1 vitamin, that is Vitamin M. MONEY. You have that, all your problems are gone.

I like vitamin beef, along with a pork, lamb, poultry and seafood supplement. Taste great and good for you.

you can take nutrilite daily, which is recommended WHO(nutrilite the no1 supplement brand)

you could take a multi vitamin with minerals.but the b12 is great you can use it for different things.look up what vitamins do what.it,s actually interesting

I've been taking vitamins for years and recently found out that synthetic vitamins are not that good for you. Organic whole food vitamins are really the best. I wrote an article about it here: http://www.organic-home-online.com/organ... .

How do you know if you're taking a synthetic vitamin? It will have the vitamin name listed on the ingredient label instead of the food that the vitamin comes from.

It may be better for you to take a daily multi-vitamin. I recommend Solaray Once Daily High Energy. That's what I take.
