Question for vegetarians/vegans?!
Answers: I was just wondering if vegetarians / vegans eat simulated meat flavored soups?? I am having a vegetarian/vegan over for dinner tomorrow and I want to serve this fake beef flavored gravy (with artificial beef) on their potatoes. Your opinions please!
Campbell's mushroom gravy is vegetarian and soooo delicious! Just an option for you. I know people who really turn their nose up at the meat alternatives, like vegetarian chicken, etc....but my personal opinion is "get over it and don't be so anal retentive!". Kudos to those who have given up meat, but to be expected to automatically shun the tastes and flavors that we have eaten all our lives until we became vegetarian/vegan is an unrealistic request. I appreciate and love all the wonderful alternatives that we have offered to us as vegetarians and I wish everyone had the options that we have. Some countries...heck, some neighborhoods here in the USA don't have the blessing of the choices that some of us have! On the other hand, make the vegetarian food you want to treat them too, and have the gravy as an option and they can accept or decline as they wish. They should appreciate that you went to the effort to please them!
It's probably a personal matter and you should politely ask them if they want to eat something with a simulated beef taste or not. On a related note, I know of some vegetarians who like to eat veggie burgers and others who do not even want to eat something substituted for a meat product. In conclusion, ask them if you think it is appropriate - most would probably thank you for taking the time to consider their needs.

hmmm i wouldnt if i were you. It's a liiitle risky, out of everything you could feed a vegeterian, maybe try something that isnt beef flavoured
I'm not a picky vegetarian, but I am one. Most vegetarians eat veggie burgers and meat flavored things, while others wont eat anything associated with meat. I would just ask them if they wanted any.
It's touchy. Personally, I love all of the mock chicken etc, but some people are really picky. I say you ring and ask. It may seem weird but still... it will get you an answer.
I don't understand the point of fake meat. If you wanted to eat things that look/ taste like meat, why would you give up meat in the first place? Weird!
:-)
Is it actually vegetarian, or does it just not have meat in it? They aren't synonymous. Just because something has artificial flavoring doesn't mean it doesn't have real flavoring as well.
You can make it, he/she doesn't have to eat it. Just keep the ingredients available for him/her to make his/her own decision.
Medisin: We don't eat animals. Mock meats aren't animals. What's so confusing to you? The meat industry doesn't have a monopoly on the patty and link shapes, sorry to break that to you.
It depends on what is really in the product! Some idiots call things vegetarian and there is chicken in it! One product was suppose be fake bacon and I discovered ingredients that it contained chicken!
Remember make sure the product defines what the artificial item is made of! I find it best to make my own fake meats.. you can see my blog
ca.360.yahoo.com/ddherbals. I am vegetarian!
Campbells mushroom gravy the cans I seen contain some beef flavouring so that's not vegetarian! Franco-American gravy is better even though that is sold by Campbells but it has no beef flavour! Campbell actually bought that gravy company!
no we dont.
go to a local super market and ask if they have vegaterian beef flovoring.
I have nothing against it, but i'm not a fan of fake meat. It was a nice alternative while making the transition to vegetarian. but I prefer vegie dishes. I'd probably make a vegie based dish & have the gravy as an option. Good luck ;0)
Nothing derived from animals...pleaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeee....
It might be that you're not being a veg, you don't understand that many vegies have no interest in meat, meat flavor, meat photos, meat smells, meat talk, meat memories or meat substitutes. Even the word M E A T kinda invinces a viceral wrenching in some of us lol.
So feed them something good and tasty instead...don't you like em? ;)
if it's 100% meat free then you can always make it and set it on the table as an option. i wouldn't put it directly on their food, much like any other topping that's optional. i'm a vegetarian and i eat fake meat products a lot, so i don't see it as a problem as long as it's completely vegetarian
no we do not. Nothing with animal products are acceptable... Sry....
