Thinking about going vegatarian. Your advice?!
Answers: I love animals and I don't want to eat them.
i tried it, and I felt alot better
I then had a moment of weakness and I ate some meat, but I guess my body was so used to not having to digest meat, well, let's just say, I had to eject it as soon as possible, so I went back to my no-meat self and I have had no problem with it. Just make sure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need to stay healthy!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!
If you think you can do it i would go for it . some ppl lose alot of weight by goin vegatarian if you are tryin to lose weight. My friend is a vegatarian and he loves bein one so I say go for it !
do it! im a vegetarian. its not that hard... but then again, i've been a vegetarian since i was about like 4. i decided not to eat meat once it really clicked i was eating something that used to be alive and happy and clucking around.
you have to make sure to get protein though. i eat peanut butter and these bolthouse farms mocha cappuchino things, they're really good. and almonds, pretty much all nuts.
but anyway, you should. have you heard of rise against? theyre all vegetarians. you should go on youtube and watch ready to fall by rise against, the unedited version. its really sad but it wakes you up. and every vegetarian saves more than 100 animals a year.
oh and go to peta2.com.
Google "Flexitarian Diets" and you may find a better way of living than being strict vegetarians and throwing you life away and having your friends avoid you like a disease
I think you should do whatever you think is best. I'm a vegetarian, and I don't eat fish or anything, either. Sometimes it's tough when you first decide this is the route you want to take. My friends' mothers still try to get me to eat meat, and most of them surprisingly don't even consider chicken to be meat. "Oh, you don't eat meat? How about some grilled chicken/fish/lobster?" are common questions I'm asked. Just do your research to make sure you get enough of the right nutrients and be firm in your decision. People come at me with arguments about animal cruelty in the fashion world and how vegetarianism is pointless or hypocritical, so I use biology to refute them. I say, "Well, if plants are at the bottom of the energy pyramid, then doesn't it make more sense to go directly to the source? Why kill and eat something that ate something that ate from the source?" There's also a huge protein myth you'll have to get around, because most people are conditioned to think the only way you can get enough protein is through red meat (ignoring beans, nuts, and all sorts of foods). I hope you find supportive people to help you with your decision, and I'm glad someone else thinks it's not good to eat meat.
Note: Watch out for PETA. I'm against cruelty to animals and don't eat them, but PETA is a horrible institution. Google "PETA truth" and see what all you find. They actually kill many of the animals they kidnap. There was one incident in which PETA employees were killing healthy dogs and throwing them in dumpsters. Many high up people from PETA have openly admitted that their ultimate goal is "total animal liberation" (despite the ones they're killing, I guess), which means that everything from having a household dog to going fishing would be illegal. They also use sexist advertising in which they compare women to pieces of meat, use barely clothed women to attract attention, etc.
I have went Vegan...for a week. It was hard, but I tried to stay strong. I was going good until my mother interferred. When u become a Vegan, your body has an immediate withdraw to the vitamins u get from meat, dairy, etc, so u will have to get vitamin supplements to stay healthy. I didn't have those, so I turned pale white, and i'm half black. Going Vegan is good when u have support and u are certainly haelthier and will live longer (studies say). If u want more info on going Vegan, go to Peta 2.com They are very helpful and you'll find out some information you would really wan to know! I hope this helped!
Try it out for a few weeks. I have been a vegeterian for 8 months! I feel great and I dont have many protein substitutes but I took a blood test and Im fine perfectly fine! If not healthier then I was before. If you are someone that enjoys the taste of meat you might have those moments where wow I wish I had some baceon but you just have to picture it as a poor pig and then you'll get over it hopefully!
Good luck-if you have any questions email me anytime!
Don't go veggie all at once, or you'll never stick to it. Phase out different things over several months.
You'll find you never miss meat.
oh YAY, another vegetarian! good on you. For me, i personally didn't think it was that hard to start, only because i was so excited about it, the thought that i was actually doing something to help fight animal cruelty made me feel so good about myself that i couldn't even like bring myself to eat meat if i tried. You don't even have to have natural self control, cause i know i don't! when it comes to like cookies and stuff. but what you do need is a passion for what you are doing. You need to decide the exact reasons you are doing this and why and then stick with it.
If you are doing it because of animal cruelty: Good on you! same with me. It's the best feeling in the world. Some of the benefits include saving an average of 100 animals a year! It's a fact I read on the peta website, and i read somewhere else that the average vegetarian saves about 36 pigs a year (i can't remember how many other animals). It makes you feel SO good about yourself, to know that you are not contributing to the inhumane torture and slaughter of innocent, defensless animals. Vegeterians are unique people who are slowly becoming more and more common, only for the better! We are the people who care:):):)
If you are doing it for health reasons: good on you again! In my opinion becoming vegeterian is one of the healthiest things you can do. There is no nutrients you can get from meat that you can't get from a balanced vegeterian diet and/or dietry suppliments. You do end up taking in more vegetables than usual by eating vegeburgers instead of meat ones, vege-lasagne, etc. Not eating meat can dramatically decrease your chance of getting a heart disease, and you will most likely lose weight as well as having your body detoxed.
Continuing to eat fish is a choice that many vegeterians make because they don't consider a fish an important animal or their trying to keep some sort of healthy protein in their lives, it's all in your opinion. I don't eat fish (mainly cause i don't like it) but i also still consider it an animal. A vegeterian that eats fish is called a 'pescetarian'.
dw, its really easy to make your normal meals into vegetarian ones.. i thought of these myself :)
*tacos/burritos (instead of meat, beans but with the same spices)
*have sandwiches with vegetables and lots of cheese (you could add toferky but i personally think it tastes like dog food)
*vegetable lasagne
*when your family eats burgers, have a VEGE burger, you can buy them in the frozen section their goood
*tofu cooked with spices, soy sauce, and sweet chilli/tomato sause, when your family is eating meat
*PASTA
*cheese/vegetarian pizza
*stirfries
*noodle boxes (their boxes of like pad thai, satay noodles and stuff and all you do is add water and microwave)
*vege-nuggets (havent had them but apparently their even better than chiken nuggets)
*avacado and cheese quesidillas
*ceasar salad
*spinach queche- no ham of course
theres really soo many options! If you start cutting out meat you won't crave it anymore, thats what i did.
