Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook
http://www.amazon.com/Veganomicon-Ultima...

If you go on
www.amazon.ca/www.amazon.com
and search "vegan" or "vegetarian"
they will come up with tons of books.

Most come with reviews from many people
which is extremely helpful.

I just ordered the "Skinny B*tch" and "Skinny B*tch in the Kitch"
*shrugs*
no idea how they'll be.

If you go to ur public library...im pretty sure u can get a bunch there.

and its free research.

good luck on being a vegan.

= )

Sarah Kramer is great. Recipes and info, but mostly recipes.

I would do as much research online as possible. there is so much out there. And, well, there is lots of support and knowledge on here, yahoo questions

There isn't a better book in my opinion than "Skinny B*tch," which just came out with an accompanying "Skinny B*tch in the Kitch" cookbook. THE. BEST. EVER. I was already vegan when I reluctantly read this (I'm so not into the b*tch attitude) but I have come to love and rely on this book. Even though I've been vegan for years, I learned SO much more and I feel so enlightened. It makes it easy to go vegan!

For both advice and recipe ideas, I'd consider "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Vegan Living." Not that you're an idiot, it's just covers a broad base of information. It'll be a good place to start.

For further reading on vegan nutrition, I'd progress to "Becoming Vegan" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina.

For further advice-type stuff, like how to keep yourself fed on a road trip and how to deal with hostile friends and relatives, "Vegan Freak" by Bob and Jenna Torres is good.

For more recipes and food ideas, you can't go wrong with "Vegan with a Vengeance" and "Veganomicon" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero.

Skinny Bi+ch was a really helpful book. Its a quick read, and you easily move to more material when finished with this one. You have a better idea of what you are interested in. They came out with a book of recipes, Skinny Bi+ch in the Kitch, but most the recipes aren't scratch recipes, they are normal ones with vegan subs instead of the real thing. It sounds great for a beginner vegan, but someone trying to cut out the processed foods and truly become healthy would like the original book far more, and look for other sources of recipes.
Best of luck!
