Vegetarian Nutrition?!
Answers: I have been a vegetarian for 7 years, and I try to eat healthily, but now that I am at college it is really hard because very few healthy choices are offered. Because of this I have been taking multi-vitamins. I take two of the Centrum for kids (since I can't swallow pills). I am worried about the iron. 18 mg is the kid and adult dose, so I am not sure I should be taking 36. However, I don't have a very good source of iron here, except for tofu (which i eat probably 3-4 days a week). do you think this is okay?
This is something you should be asking a nutritionist. I think you should make the switch to a vegetarian or vegan multi vitamin. The ones you are taking are meant to work with the traditional meat-laden American diet, and therefore you are probably not getting the balance of nutrients you need. There are children's chewable vegetarian and vegan multi vitamins, so if you really can't swallow pills ask a nutritionist to review one of those for you.
Have you done research on Iron?
You should have your blood checked every year. You might not need iron and too much can be bad for you too.
Peanut butter is easy to come by and so are beans. Eat rice and corn together too.
