Stop trying to explain to them. They will never understand. Only fellow vege people understand. My parents used to tell me to eat beef, pork, egg, chicken. Before, I used to explain it to them, that these foods make me sick. This was eleven years ago. But now, I pretty much stopped trying to explain, and now there is some kind of peace on the dinner table. They tell me to eat, I just say yes. But I do not eat. They put some meat on my plate, then I start screaming.

My sister and her family became veg on my 4th year as veg. She tries to explain to people why she wont eat meat. I told her not to explain to people because they wont understand. At first she still explains. She comes off as a wierd person. That does some damage to the social life. People do not have to know.

As for your parents, just quit it. I have been veg for 11 years, if the topic comes up again in the family, my other sister even suggests that I see a doctor so that I can eat meat again. Yuk!!

Just let your family be. They will never understand unless they become veg

No. Your body will supply the enzymes just like you ate fish yesterday.

You can explain to your parents that there is more than enough protein in beans and eggs though too.

Buy soy protein from Trader Joe's and add it to a shake or whatever food you feel it would go well with.

it would make you not-a-vegetarian but it wont make you feel sick. umm...maybe take some fish oil tablets (even though it contains fish) im not sure. try talking to your parents aobut it.

hm u will not get sick but ....... if u eat fish thats meat
if ur parents are worried tell them to get more informed about the subject there are plenty of suplements for protein

Eat nuts instead because they contain a lot of protein. Tell your parents this. Also, see if they'll let you take a protein supplement.

You can eat beans, soy products and nuts to get your protein. Look for some healthy ideas on the internet, then show your parents what you found so they are assured you will get adequate nutrition even if you are vegetarian.

It shouldn't make you sick at all as long as you moderate and, of course, the fish is very fresh. If you don't want to do this then eat more soy proteins or supplements such as slim fast which contains proteins and balanced vitamins.

You know you can get loads of protein from green vegetables (how do you think cows get their protein-eating green grass). Protein is found in nuts, all beans, whole grains, and some fruit. Get a nutritional book to show to your parents. People need to know that the primary source of protein is not found in animal products and meat.

Don't worry I'm a vegetarian too!! I havn't eatin' meat in like 3 years and not too long ago my parnets made me try some fish and a hamburger so I CAN HAVE MORE PORTIN and it SHOULDN'T make u sick just eat a little bit at a time, and u should be fine!! hope I helped

I know, my parents bug me about that too. I don't see how it would make you sick, but I had heard of cases where people have become ill, so I would advise eating a small amount to start with, in case your body reacts to it in a strange way.
If you need fish, you are not a vegetarian, but it's good to do anything to cut down on animal products. I'm a vegetarian, but I have an awful love for leather shoes, which I'm working on.

Tell your parents that there are many vegetarian foods that are high in protein. You can show them this list of protein-rich foods:

Almonds, black beans, brown rice, cashews, faux meats, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), kidney beans, lentils, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, textured vegetable protein (TVP) and tofu.

Yes, you would not be considered a vegetarian anymore since fish are animals.

You will get sick.

A friend and I (both of us are vegetarian, myself for over a year, her over ten) ate at a restaurant and our food came into contact with just the oils of a fish. She was hospitalized, I was very sick. Both of us wanted to die it was so bad.

Many, many veggie options out there.
I have, Eggs, Crimini Mushrooms, Silk Vanilla Soy Milk, Boca Vegan Burgers, Red/Black Beans, Chickpeas, Spinach, Peanuts/ Peanut Butter and Potatoes.

Those are just my favorites. Sadly this is a common thing and everyone thinks that proteins don't come from veggies but that's how cows and such mainly get them... So when people bother me about it I yell "Fish ARE animals too! and animals get protein from veggies. I eat plenty of foods with protein because I know what I am doing, I've looked it up so thank you for caring but you do not need to worry."

well if u think it might make u sick then u can eat vegeterian stuff iin frozen section that have lots of protein

some vegetarians eat fish but I dont really classify them as vegetarians myself. Explain to your parents that you can get just as much protein from fish as you can from nuts, green vegetables, tofu, and if you eat eggs.. eggs (of course they have to be free range though!). Eating the fish could possibly make you sick, but if you eat a little bit then you'd be fine. Ive been a vegetarian for my whole life so if I started eating meat now I sure as hell would get sick!

If you don't want to eat fish - don't. It's a myth that vegetarians and vegans lack protein. It's anything but! Tofu, veggie burgers, veggie chicken & meatballs, nuts, seeds, legumes... there are tons of places to get protein. If you do want to start eating fish, there is a branch of vegetarianism where people eat fish but no red/white meats. I suggest if you do make the switch to fish, take it slowly - it is very likely that your whole metabolic system has changed and the acids in your stomach are now less accustomed to breaking down animal proteins. You may find you will feel ill when you first start eating fish again, but as with anything, it will subside over time.

GOOD CHOICE! i say stay vegetarian, tell ur parents this is a choice u have made, but, fish has many things u need such as protein and omega3... but luckly u can replace those... u can get flax seed oil or flax seed pills, they sell them at traders joe or super fresh..any supermarket, flax is a flower with high levels of omega 3... you really need that bad boi! oh, and there are also fish oil pills.. they are allways better thatn a fish in your plate.. but i just stick with the flax seeds..
