I am a hunter and meat eater who has been trying to cut back on my red meat intake. Any menu ideas?!

Question: I'd like to try and find more alternative healthy eating recipes. Any ideas?

Some good food ideas:
Pasta with steamed vegetables & marinara sauce or nutritional yeast (ny) cheese sauce.
Pizza with vegetables or meat substitute with no cheese, or vegan cheese or ny cheese sauce.
Falafel on pita bread with hummus.
Sandwiches (such as tempeh lettuce and tomato, meat substitute such as lightlife, BBQ, morningstar, boca, or toforkey, or peanut butter).
Beans with rice and vegetables.
Seiten, tempeh, TVP or tofu meat substitute (such as wings, or steak)...... plus a LOT more!

Try hearty bean chili, made just like you would with beef but replace the beef with lots of different beans - black beans, kidney beans. Toss in chopped up vegetables (like zucchini and bell peppers), corn, diced onion... Spoon the chili over a baked potato or cornbread, yum.

Actually, eating wild game is very healthy for you. But if you are looking for a healthy alternative, broiled, baked or steamed chicken is good. Baked fish, steamed shrimp, seared scallops or steamed lobster is also healthy. You can cook anything in a healthy way. You just have to leave out the butter, frying, sautee'ing, and sauces.

As someone that grew up/still cooks alot of wild game and farm animals...natural is better...hope this helps!!

Enjoy some wholesome carrots.

try eating fish, you can find a large variety of textures and tastes. you can try asking the person at your local seafood counter for suggestions according to your tastes. Maybe get into smoking meats like turkey and chicken for something flavorful and different. Venison is actually pretty good for you too. If you'd like some non-meat main courses you can try things likes hummus, black beans, light cheeses, and whole grains to fill you up.

It's so nice to see someone like a hunter want to scale back on red meat! I have a friend who is a hunter and will eat any type of meat, so he's a hard one to convince with alternative things like tofu. But the one thing he LOVES is TVP (textured vegetable protein) in his chili recipe. He substitutes the meat with the TVP, and even his son can't tell the difference between the meat chili and the chili with TVP. You can buy TVP in many grocery stores and natural food stores, and it often is in the bulk section. They make all different shapes like chunks, chicken-breast shaped ones, and smaller pieces for chili and stews. Try it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Hmm try varying your diet day to day. In the beginning you might have eggs one night, beans another night, red meat another and then maybe poultry or fish once in awhile.
Try to do it gradually, not all at once, changing lifestyle habits means not doing it all at once or it will not work. Eventually you might add something like a pizza with just some vegetables and cheese on it or maybe macaroni with vegetables and cheese. Depends of course on whether you cook much or not. If you cook large amounts of things and then eat the same thing for a few days or more, try to make it more balanced, with vegetables in it like onions, carrots, celery. Try adding lettuce to a sandwich and see if you like it.

One of the things nutritionists mention is variety in what you eat. Simply changing little habits here and there seems to work.

eat more chikin

Google healthy poultry and fish recipes, and vegan recipes. But if i were you, i would not go vegan. Humans really do need some of the nutrients in flesh, like proteins and iron. The good news is that fish is really quick and easy to cook. You might try Everyday Food, Martha Stewarts home cooking site.Enjoy your recipe search, cooking new dishes can be so much fun!
