Vegan survival?!
Answers: How do vegan's not starve or become severely malnourished when not around a bunch of health stores? If a vegan was stranded in the wild or went to a third world country, how would they stay healthy?
Most third world countries are predominantly vegetarian, simply due to poverty.
They eat grains and rice and vegetables. Meat is a luxury that most can't afford.
If vegans were stranded in the wild they could eat acorns and other nuts, as well as roots, tubers, water cress, wild greens and berries.
How would animal eaters survive without slaughterhouses? If all slaughterhouses & health food stores just stopped, ve*ans would last longer, because they know about nutrition and necessity and the sources to get it. Animal eaters would be too scared to kill animals (not all, but most) so therefore would starve since they would not know what plants and grains to eat.
Gosh you are worse than Ashley!!
Not to mention most third world countries are vegetarian, especially Africa & India.
Look at the 100 mile diet thing. It is some couple or person that decided to only eat or consume stuff that was within a 100 mile radius of the house they live in.
I do not know how or if it is vegan, but it could apply.
Think of all the gas and animals and dolphins that you would save by using the 100 mile consumer guide.
Health stores were not exactly popular many years ago but vegans still existed and survived. Vegans don't necessarily starve if they didn't have boca patties or vegan cheese. They can just eat what is available, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, etc.
...erm, just how much meat and dairy do you think people have, in third world countries...?
I'm not vegan, but I see a big flaw in your argument!
Go for RAW vegan, you may find the answer for surviving with balance nutrition in the 3WC. The question is the money, powerty, famine.
In a jungle if you know pretty much what to eat, you may surprise that veganism is the most ideal. If you really concern for that, explore and learn the type of seeds, fruits, leaves, barks, roots and juice are edible.
Your Q is not a difficult one. It is much difficult to survive in a desert.
I'm a vegan and I rarely use health shops, I use supermarkets and regular shops just as you probably do.
I'm very far from starving.
We'd do just fine. I dont think meat eaters would do to well without their butchers and slaughter houses though. If YOU were stranded in the wild what would you survive on?
beans. mushrooms. nuts. etc its also important to combine these with a carb such as rice to make a complete protein. quinoa is also a really good grain protein.
Stranded in the wild... Why that's a vegan playground. Just because all you think of is animals in the wild doesn't mean that the rest of us see it that way.
I mean... talk about pure organics.
True vegans never go hungry. We find it easier in 3rd world countries because there are more sources of natural foods. Moreover the attitudes of 3rd world countries towards veganism is more comprehensive and integrated than we find in the west where there are only wannabe vegans.
There are plenty of vegan items in regular grocery stores. A vegan that's stranded in the wild would have a better chance at survival than most because they are educated about nutritional needs more than most.
They would'nt.
