it's difficult because even some brands of sugar aren't vegan!

you're best off just reading the ingredients before you buy, tedious i know, but worth it!

keep an eye out for basics like gelatin and milk solids and you have to avoid some pretty tricky stuff too, like colour "120" (a red dye) is made from beetles and is in so much candy.

and don't forget that you could always make your own:

Whittikers dark chocolate, hard candy, sherbert, a particular fruit burst, just things without gelatin or milk or butter or cream:p the vegans should know, but alot of things are ruled out unless you go to a vegan candy store as dairy is way more common than vegan alternatives

A friend of mine used to make Potatoe Candy. Boil Potatoes and when they are done, mash them down and add powdered sugar and nead them on down. Add food coloring for texture and looks. Basically the hot potatoes melts the powdered sugar and this is Potatoe Candy. Herb West III www.wen2k.com www.west.herb@yahoo.com

Jelly Bellys are vegan!!!

Here's a list of PETA-approved candy.
