My favorite meals are rice and beans, homemade cheese/veggie pizza, black bean burgers, vegetable soup, vegetarian lasagna, vegetarian chili, sit-fry veggie w/ tofu, and brown rice with steamed vegetables.

My favorite recipe site is http://www.vegweb.com

SALAD! lol

there is EXCELLENT food on there!

I have a vegetarian friend and she swears that tofu is the best next thing to chicken. Fish is also something vegetarians will eat.

Here is a link to tons of tofu recipes.

Meat is good for the taste but not so great for your body. Good for you if you can stick with the vegetarian thing.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to replace the taste of a perfectly grilled T-Bone steak with anything vegan.

While everyone else is enjoying their steak, you can eat tofu or mushrooms.................

You know what's really meaty?
those huge mushrooms.
Crush a clove of garlic, chop some parsley, and mix together in a little olive oil (or melted butter) with some salt and pepper. Put the mushrooms stalk side up on an oven tray and spoon the mixture onto each of them. A little parmesan on top too if you like.
Now put this into a really hot oven for 10 minutes.

Remove, and put into a bread roll with some salad etc. and enjoy. It's amazingly satisfying.

Foods to include in your diet, well quinoa is a great source of protein and omega oils, just cook 1 cup quinoa in 2 cups of salted water or stock with some mixed vegetables thrown in.

Indian food is GREAT for vegetarians, as it's well balanced, well seasoned and you never feel like you're missing something.

Well done for waking up, and thank you from another person who loves animals.

Hey I've been a vegitarian for about 7 years now and I love this!

Arizona skillet dinner

1 Box of Penne
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup of frozen corn
1 can of your favorite beans (I use Kidney beans)
1 pg of your favorite dry taco seasoning
1/2 cup sharp cheddar

Cook the noodles according to package directions and just a couple of minutes before draining noodles, add corn to the pot. Drain and add seasoning, beans, and cheese. Stir until cheese is melted.

Hope you enjoy this and good luck!

You should try Morningstar Farms or Boca products. Morningstar Farms have (meatless) steak strips; my brother, who's not a vegetarian, didn't even know that their corndogs weren't really made from animals.

I would recommend that you go slowly about completely changing your diet, you'll have better chance at success in the long run. If you should slip up, don't beat yourself up over it and don't give up being a veggie either. For more information check out my blog at Myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus...

The US government has a lot of good info, too: http://www.mypyramid.gov/tips_resources/...

In the Yellow Pages under restaurants some of them list their menus and many offered vegetarian options.

You really nead to research - just get on the computer and google and you will be surprized what you will find. If you can cook you will find it easier and if you are wiling to try new things also.

go to the vegetarian society uk and you will find lots of meal ideas and recipes.

i've been vegetarian for my whole life, because it's a culture thing, hindu's!

I know people who have become vegetairan, but after 1 week, they stopped. It's too hard for them. It's not hard for me, becaue i've never tried meat.

you should just eat whatever you eat, without the meat. pasta, salads, fruits, snacks, chips, etc.

However, i'm warning you, you will become thin without meat. I am thin, because i don't get the fat from meats. You may drop 7 lbs. in 1 week.

Congrats on going veg!

You could make a list of your favorite meals and recipes, and them adapt them into vegetarian versions. For example, pasta and meatballs would become pasta and Nate's Meatless Meatballs. It helps to find faux meats that you like... not all the brands taste the same, so do some taste testing. Here's a list of popular products:
http://www.vegcooking.com/guide-favs.asp

My favorites are Nate's Meatless Meatballs, Tofurkey Deli Slices, Gardenburger Flame Grilled Chik’n, Boca Chik’n Patties, and Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik’n Strips.

Try eating fish. It actually doesn't count as meat.
