Vegans have you ever fallen off the wagon??!

Question: I've been veg for over a year. A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to become vegan. I was doing well untill today. My mum made one of my favourite dairy sweets (no eggs but had milk n cream in it) and I just couldn't help my self. I had 2 big slices. Now I feel soooo bad + I feel really sick too.

Have any of you ever given in to temptation? How do you resist your favourite sweets?

I feel really bad. any advice would b appreciated.

No, I've been vegetarian for 21 years and vegan for 5 months. Nothing has ever trulyh tempted me, but I'd avoid sweets with dairy by making treats without it. There are zillions of recipes available for vegan fudge, cookies, cupcakes, pastries, whatever you could possibly want.

yeah i felll of hte wagaon and hit my head. i have a scar now.

dont beat yourself up over it.. you had some milk and cream... just go back to being vegan again now! and next time make your mum adjust the recipe with vegan alternative ;)

Lol. ^^Stupid people^^ LOL.
I understand. When i started out being a vegetarian, my doctor told me not to because my iron level was down or something but i dnt like meat. I was forced to eat chicken one day and ended up throwing it back up! Its kinda like being bulimic but not.
Its hard wen u first start out but u end up getting to a point where u cant stand eating that kinda thing. Just choose a healthy celery stick to that unhealthy cheesecake. Its much healthier anyway. think about it like that.
If ever feeling the temptation think about whats healthier.

yeahh! last day my sister was preparing chop suey.. non-vegan off course... when i went to the kitchen the pieces of meat were getting ready they looked very good.. i coldnt resist and took one.. i chewed . the texture of the meat was soo weird i hadnt eaten that for months! i felt inmediately guilty .. so , i splited it up.. and never ate that again.

i now is sooo unethical.. but everything is a process...you are doing this for yourself if the other vegans think you are just evil.. it doest reallly matter...

Hey don't put too much pressure on yourself because I to am a vegan and the though of eating anything that isn't in my list would totally kill me I understand your pain. No I haven't given to temptation and I've been a vegan for 3 yrs now and luv every day of it. Before I loved pastry but after I made an oath not eat anything with or drink milk that totally killed part of my day, but what I did was replace that with some great fruit, and since I'm the only vegan in my house, make smoothies and other great stuff to replace the crave, after a while I got use to it. Don't feel bad okay but next time just take a walk or get out the house if you can't resist temptation, And the reason your probably sick is because your body haven't had normal milk and cream in it in a while and the fact that your dwelling on the thought could make it worse just don't do it again and I guarantee you going to get better

Yes! I once drank Orange Juice that had Vitamin D (3)!! in it! I still find it hard to forgive myself since I knew it wasn't vegan. But I love vegan sweets and ice cream waay more than non-vegan. But the only the I miss from time to time is cheese, nutritional yeast cheese sauce and follow your heat sorta take care of that sometimes though.

Advice: Remember the reasons you became vegan, watch Earthlings, remember it is bad for your health, and learn to cook a lot of vegan foods and recipes and cook them more!

I did once by having a pizza at my granmas. it was a religious tradition to eat a meal after so i didn't want to be rude so i had the pizza. But now if i ever get given pizza i'll take the cheese of first even though i'm not sure if the flour in pizza dough is vegan. :(
It risks like that i took when i started out vegan. But the more you get use to eating vegan food and not eating none vegan food you rarely make mistakes and it gets easy.
Instead of your favourite sweets have vegan chocolate buttons, vegan ice cream and vegan toffee sweets.

Temptation is difficult sometimes. If you can give in so easily, maybe you aren't committed to being vegan yet.

You feel sick because of guilt. Doesn't make you bad though. In the end, you'll find a comfort zone whether it be vegan or vegetarian.

My advice? Keep trying. If you feel so badly about your transgression you obviously want to be vegan. But it takes commitment and giving in to a sweet tooth shouldn't happen. There are alternatives that you could have eaten at that time.

For me, there is no waggon. I'm in the race car having to much fun to think about such things.

I'm in the exact situation as you, just went vegan and yes I fell off a couple of times in the past couple months.

My advice to me and you is to just keep at it. It hard to change a lifelong habit of eating especially when faced with the comforts of home.

Every Saturday I used to order a yummy cheese pizza from my favorite pizza shop and every Saturday I'm faced with the challenge of avoiding it. So I try to cook vegan meals and find replacements for the foods I used to love that I now want to give up If you want to do it you will.

Good luck!

I am a carnivore I will eat anything that moves
