Anything by Morning Star Farms is great. I personally like the Chik'n Nuggets and Tenders. A really great thing to do with those is make them, then cut them up and make a wrap (you can put whatever you want in there, I personally like mayo or ranch with some melted cheese). Also, the Soy Bacon they make is really good. I like to make a breakfast burrito out of it by making scrambled eggs and crumbling the bacon in there. You can put any kind of vegetables like peppers or onions in there too with some cheese or whatever you like. They also make really good burgers and chik'n patties. I like the Grillers Vegan personally. The Vegetarian Corn Dogs are good, too. The hot dogs are pretty good too and if you want a child comfort food, you can put it in some macaroni too, : ]. If you want a deli sandwich, I think Litelife Smart Deli products are good too. Anything by Boca is usually good too, and they sell a variety of fake beef products like breakfast wraps, burgers, and crumbles if you want to put that in to a hamburger helper type meal or tacos. You can buy these usually at any grocery store, but they are pretty cheap at Target. The regular price for these is usually somewhere around $3 to $7 a box depending on where and what you buy. These products usually contain a good amount of protein in them (usually anywhere from 10 to 20 g of protein per serving), but if you want some extra, it's a little more money, but you can protein drinks. I like Odwalla Super Protein Vanilla Almond drinks (these contain about 18 g of protein per bottle, although I find half a bottle suits me). They are usually about $3 a bottle, but are sooo good and usually fill you up instead of a whole meal. In addition to protein, I like to eat stir frys, banana chips, dried fruits, carrots and ranch, salads, and if you want a good dessert, fruit and dip or popsicles are always nice. You can also make that frozen broccoli and then melt some cheese on top. You can still eat a lot of regular foods too like Vegetable Lasagna, Cheese Pizza, Burger King Fries, Grilled Cheese, you get the point. I eat everything.

Im a veggie, and boca burgers and steaks are really great. They taste the same, they're called the same thing, but they dont hurt animals or our enviornment. Also, Tofu Is GREAT. Try fruit Salads and veggie Salads. Beans without meat in them are a great sorce of protein. DONT SKIP OUT ON PROTEIN! its very important

Hi im vegetarian and im glad you've chosen to follow it. maybe youll continue after lent. i eat mostly sweet potatoes, they're sweet and satisfying, just boiled. also, try soy products, they sound gross but are actually okay. in the frozen section at stores they have Morningstar and Boca Burgers, plus soy chicken, and even soy steak! also fruits and veggies of course! Oh and I always eat at least 1 egg a day for protein esp in the morning cuz it keeps you full! hope this helps!

I try not to use meat substitutes much, they can be worse then meat.

I like using tofu (buy certified organic...soy is known for being genetically modified and can have lots of pesticides, like reg. cows milk and cheeses etc.)

I have smoothies and peanut butter toast, oatmeal with dried fruit, tofu and veggie scramblies....for breakfast

Lunch I have quinoa or beans and salad, veggies, fruit, Tofu cutlets (bread some tofu and fry it.....you can make a mean tofu Parmesan with this too)...some nuts

Dinner I have pita pizza, stir fry, garlic mashed potatoes, salads, beans, veggie chili.....

If you are still eating eggs and dairy, you wont have much trouble.

Veggie lasagna is great because you can freeze small portions and have it for lunch or quick dinners.

Marinating tofu then baking it in hossein sauce....or or veggie onion soup mix with some water and oil....

If you look online you will find a million really good recipes.

And you should watch out :) I know lots of people who went veggie for lent, then never went back to the dark side *wink*

Good luck.

Quorn products are great. Boca burger or Yves burgers are good. Soy Knox from El Burrito.

Veggie sushi.
Vegetarian refried beans, rice, ortega peppers (with olive oil and garlic).
Pasta with cut up Boca Burgers or Boca Italian Sausage
Homemade pizza - veggies, add cut up Boca Italian Sausage or MorningStar Farms Sausage Patties (don't use the breakfast patties, they are terrible).
Veggie mock chicken/turkey soup (use quorn products)

You'll get plenty of protein as long as you simply eat a healthy variety of veggie foods every day, even if you don't consume dairy or soy. Even an orange has a bit of protein & everything you eat adds up during the day-- you don't need to get your entire protein intake @ 1 meal.
We eat a lot of stir-fry, usually without soy products but occasionally with tofu. Also a lot of bean dishes, veggie chili is great on a cold evening. Peanut butter on whole grain bread is tasty, filling & nutritious. When I cook pasta, I add lots of veggies to the sauce.
There are endless things you can have, it depends on your personal tastes.Good luck.

i saw eating those chickens that arent chickens bu taste like chickens. i hope this makes sense. lol um.... i would eat peanuts, eggs, and cheese for substitute protein. good luck, and god bless

And there is no *substitute* for protein, protein is find in a lot of sources that veg*an such as tofu, tempeh, soybeans, seitan, tvp, lentils, pinto beans, black beans, chickpeas...more:

You don't need to "substitute for protein." Vegetarian foods HAVE protein.

Good sources of protein include soybeans and soy-based foods (tofu, tvp, tempeh, edamame, faux meats like Boca burgers,) beans and other legumes (peas, lentils, peanuts, chickpeas,) whole grains, nuts, seeds, even vegetables, fruits and mushrooms. If you're going to keep eating eggs and dairy products you'll get more protein than you could possibly need.

Here is some info for you on the myth about how much protein we need and where it should come from: http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/prote...
