Food preconceptions?!

Question: Have you ever thought you hated a food, and then you forced yourself to eat it....and discovered it's actually really good? For me:

brussel sprouts
swiss chard
spaghetti squash
tofu
blue cheese
yams
espresso
gin :)

YES, normally when i am eating at someone's house and try something just to be polite, the biggest change for me was marrowfat and mushy peas!!! Now I can eat mushy peas cold, straight out of the can with a nan bread to dip, I would NEVER ever have tried them as I still don't like frozen garden peas, which were all my mother ever dished up!

Yes, I used to hate green olives and runzas. Ironically, now green olives are my favorite food too (I guess that is what happens when one's taste buds develop)

Tofu, sushi, butterscotch chips, sausage, swiss cheese, yams, and eggs.

Oh yes. I thought I'd hate steak, but I ended up loving it. Also certain types of greens and brussels sprouts. I love good mustard greens and rape greens now, after having eaten them almost daily in China for several years.

lol gin, youre funny

i think that used to happen to me, but now i dont even bother looking at what i dont like lol. but imma have to change that, because i reject a lot of the healthy stuff :(.

Tastes change with age. I have tried many things I were sure are disgusting, and they were.

I am one of those weirdos who eats almost everything, but I have a thing against meats with a jelly, I don't like white bread, and stuff like bologna gross me out due to the texture.

I was skeptical about tofu in the beginning, but I like it now.

People's tastes really do change as they age. Young children have far more tastebuds that adults, so they are often picky. Things just taste different when you're 4 than they do when you're 24.

lima beans now I love them

I hated spinach as a child, but like it now (still hate the stuff that comes in cans, though).
Asparagus (again, not the stuff in cans)
Most squash
eggplant
So many things I never even thought of trying before we went veggie--especially Indian food!

From your list? Only espresso. I don't really like brussel sprouts.

For me it was brokoli
