How do I stop someone from eating raw bacon?!

Question: My friend is staying with me for the week and her b/f tried to cook some bacon in the house and I told him he could not cook meat in my house. I actually told him not to even bring it in the house. So, just a little while ago, I looked outside and he is sitting in the car eating raw bacon. How can I get him to stop doing that?

I completely understand your viewpoint and support your decision to not have meat cooked in your home. I'm not sure that people on here even bother to read the question... it's the boyfriend of your guest that wants to cook his bacon, right? Who cares if he doesn't get to eat his freakin' bacon while he's in your home??!! He will not suffer. Bacon is extremely unhealthy anyway, from anyone's perspective.

You have made a conscientous decision to live a life free from animal exploitation. You pay the rent, or mortgage on your home. You have the right to not want your pans filled with greasy flesh and to not want your entire home filled with the 'aroma' of cooking pig. From a vegan/vegetarian standpoint, I actually gag at the smell of cooking bacon, and would really resent it if my clothes, hair and belongings smelled like it.

Basically, it's your home, your life choice, and your right to respectfully deny his cooking meat in your home. Oh yeah, and him eating it raw in the car is ridiculous, immature and clearly attention-seeking behavior. And in response to all the 'being a good host' comments, give me an effing break. As if you are all such gracious hosts. Can I come smoke my crack pipe in your houses people?

leave him too it, its his own fault if he gets ill.

Yoou probably won't die of eating raw bacon and besides, you can buy cooked bacon. he may have bought that and is eating it. so why can't he cook in your house. He is your guest, is he not? i think you are carrying the veg thing too far. Get a grip!

What a lot of twaddle! Raw bacon does not have worms in it. Why should it be any concern of yours if he is eating raw bacon, it`s is his choice, he can eat it if he wants.

Google Trichinellosis - thats what it CAN cause.

Trichinellosis, also called trichinosis, is caused by eating raw or undercooked meat of animals infected with the larvae of a species of worm called Trichinella. Infection occurs commonly in certain wild carnivorous (meat-eating) animals but may also occur in domestic pigs.

Well, if you wouldn't "allow" him to cook it properly, then any illness he suffers will fall to being YOUR fault.

WTF is the matter with people? So YOU don't want to eat or approve of eating meat. That does NOT mean for one nanosecond that the rest of the frigging world should follow in your misguided footsteps.

I hope he gets some horrid illness so that YOU suffer the emotional and psychological consequences of being a complete jackass.

If you invite people to stay with you, it is'nt very nice of you to tell them what they Can't eat, your not be a good host, sorry.

Hey - I allow vegan friends to cook what they want in my house - even Tofu! Vegetables have feelings too you know!

Maybe try not being a fascist and let the poor man eat his bloody breakfast?

Are you a control freak, why must you have dominance over him.
Lighten up and do some real tasty veggie cooking, if you are able

Remember you are what you eat, he is making a pig of himself

Relocate the pig to another city. Give her some spending money and a ride if necessary.

Let the guy eat what he wants you god damn hippie dictator

you know humans are supposed to eat meat, yes? Without meat we and our ancestors would have died like flies.

You forced him outside the house in order to eat meat, he has no place to cook so he has to eat it raw. Now, he is doing what is normal for humans, maybe you should reconsider your decision and let him come back in the house so he won't get sick from the raw meat.

threaten him with violence.

Convert him to Islam when his backs turned.

Get a grip!

Go let him chew on your finger instead, troll!

I don't get it? The pig in that packet of bacon is already dead, let him cook it if you don't want him to eat it raw.

get a life and don,t try and force your beliefs on your friends by all means let them know how you feel about meat but don,t ask them to choose or you may not like the answer they may not be back

Why don't you just let him cook it in your house?

You militant veggies really piss me off - I often have vegetarian guests for dinner and I always take their dietary requirements into consideration, and am careful never to use any animal products in dishes I prepare for them.

If I am a guest in someone's house and would like to cook meat, I expect to be able to have it. I don't expect to people who don't like handling meat to cook it for me, I will do it myself, and if necessary provide my own pan for the job.

I would expect that when it comes to my dietary requirements, vegetarian hosts would return the courtesy of providing me with food that I can eat - I am genetically a hunter-gatherer, blood group O, and do not thrive on a diet without meat. After all, I take their requirements into consideration when they eat at my house.

Well some bacon is already cooked (cured) but some brands are not, so I think is too risky to eat raw food, unfortunately you can't stop people from doing something stupid so is up to him to take care of his health.

You can advise him but it's up to him. Since he's not your friend, try talking to your friend but don't be so "pushy" about it; just give your opinion without trying to force your ideas.

So, If you were to invite a Muslim friend over to your house, you would force them to worship (or not) as you do?

Vegetarianism is a personal choice, you cannot force people to abide by your personal dietary restrictions.

You may feel strongly about it, but you have no right to dictate what other people may eat. You can ask them kindly not to cook specifically bacon, because when cooked is highly aromatic and that the smell bothers you. But to force them to have no meat because you "have morals" not only is not very kind of you, but kind of contradicts your "I have morals" statement.

Morals have nothing to do with eating meat. Or they shouldn't. Plants are no less alive than animals. So why is it wrong to kill one and not the other. Not eating meat will not save the animals' lives. They are bred for it, in fact these animals would not survive in the wild. They should be treated humanely, yes, but that is the only requirement. All dietary restrictions are up to the individual to practice as they desire.

If you really do not want them to eat things like that in your house. Talk to them. Calmly, rationally. Do not yell. Do not insult their dietary choices. Simply explain that you abide by a certain restrictions and would they be kind enough to make a concession to leave off while they are in your house or at least not to use bacon (which does tend to smell up the house). Use loving words, explain, ask courteously, and you won't anger so many people (like those answering your question.)

As to the Raw bacon... I personally (as a meat eater) find that idea repugnant. It just seems gross. But not because it is meat, but because it is raw.

I wouldn't let anyone cook smelly bacon in my house either, but then, I don't have friend who date dumb@sses who would eat raw bacon

Either way, you're still a troll

well i have to say i dont believe he is doing it. first of all your friend would know you dont allow meat in the house. therefore her bf would know too. and very few people would eat raw meat. if he is eating it then its his worms to worry about, not yours so leave him to it.

Leave it to them it's their own fault for what actions they take, see if they get ill.Serves them right.

Sounds like an addict. I reccommend you send him to veggie rehab and cut him off, cold cabbage.

Pour pepper on it so he won't be able to eat it.

smash his teeth out with a hammer that should stop him.

One way to tell him not to eat raw bacon is to tell him how BAD that is

WTHHHHHH..R U SERIOUS RIGHT NOW I SWEAR TO GOD THEY DONT HAVE LONG TIME TILL THOSE OWRMS INFECT THERE AMUIN SYSTEM AND MESS UP THERE BODLY T- AND D-CELLS WIICH KILL VIRUSES HOPEFULLY YOUR FRIEND //CUZIN//ETX//CAN GO TO THE HOSPTIAL OR SPEICALIST

Yuk!!!! That's why i've been a vegetarian for 17 years. Print out some info from the internet for him and make him read it.
