Answers: Does an insect count as an animal, or can a vegetarian eat one, for whatever reason they'd want to?

Insects, arachnids and crustaceans are arthopods.

Arthropods are members of the animal kingdom accoding to the science of biology.

True vegetarians do not intentionally eat animals.

Its an animal and so vegetarians cannot eat them

No. Insects where once alive.

No I don't think that would comply with the vegetarian rules, and if you were a vegan you could drink the insects milk :/

No. Insects are animals.

Insects are living creatures so there for you cant really eat them.. anyeay its kinda strange to eat insects anyway =P x

i am a vegan..

and i wouldnt.. to be completely honest i dont level animals and insects together, but im not going to take a life for fun..... or a snack

i don't think they can because the point of being a vegetarian is that they don't want to kill anything that doesn't have to be killed. it's alive and can feel things unlike plants which are alive and don't have a central nervous system. yea so no they can't.

insects are alive. the answer is no

Insects are living things so therefore vegetarians cant eat them.

Can a vegetarian eat an insect? Sure. Vegetarians can eat cats, too, but they won't be a vegetarian any more. There isn't a rule book for this. There isn't a law for vegetarianism. Decide for yourself. Does it bother you to kill and consume insects? Then don't eat them. Just don't kid yourself or use denial to justify your diet like so many meat eaters do. To thine own self be true.

Insects comprise 75% of all animal species that scientists have named and described. So, according to scientists, insects belong to the animal species. This means vegetarians or vegans cannot eat them... not that they wud even want to... 'vegans' can't even consume honey becoz it comes from a honey bee... !!!!

no its non veg live food

lol nice question

but if youre a vegetarian/vegan, you cant eat anything with flesh, so insects would count :).

you know what i dont think so. i was at this camp once and one of the campfire prizes were these lolly pops. when this girl looked at the ingredents there were grass hoppers in it. i wouldnt eat that. or if eating insects for a dare like eating an ant on a cracker i wouldn't eat that either.

Insects are animals, always have been and always will be.
