What are ENZYMES?????????? (HELP)?!
Answers: Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeeeee help me... i am a careful vegetarian and i absolutley need to kno if enzymes are vegetarian!!! help!!!!!!!!
Most foods that contain enzymes are made from porcine enzymes (pork). Kinda like marshmallows use gelatin which comes from scraping animal hooves (ewww) lol. I know about the enzymes because we are Muslim and cannot eat nacho cheese Doritos bcuz of the type of enzymes used in the making of the cheese for the chips. Sorry, seems like all the really good stuff is off limits! I found another version of the marshmallows that uses vegetable gelatin at Whole Foods, so maybe they have something similar for what you are craving? Good luck!!!
yes they are.
they are what help your body fight off sickness.
i think an enzyme is just a protein.
So if your getting enzymes from vegetables etc. its fine.
Theyr are proteins that trigger activity in the cells of the body. An enzyme is not affected by the activity that it sets off.
There are many in the enzyme supplement industry using the term “plant” or “plant-source” to describe enzymes from Aspergillus. This is technically incorrect. For a number of years, the scientific community has recognized three broad classifications of organisms (animal, plant and microbial) instead of the two many of us learned (animal and plant).
Since Enzymes, Inc. products are from Aspergillus, a fungal source, they would technically be considered microbial. But with “microbial” not being readily understood, Enzymes, Inc. uses the term “natural, vegetarian source” - or simply, vegetarian - to describe Aspergillus enzyme products.
The plant enzyme designation should be reserved for enzymes truly from plant sources such as bromelain (pineapple) and papain (papaya).
The most notable distinction between vegetarian enzymes and plant enzymes is the plant enzymes limited digestive activity. Both bromelain and papain focus entirely on protein-digestion, offering no assistance with carbohydrate, fat and fiber digestion.
In addition, commercially-grown pineapple and papaya are generally exposed to environmental contamination, including pesticides, preservatives and growth-enhancers (not to mention allergic reactions to pineapple and papaya).
Vegetarian enzymes are optimally active at the precise temperature of the body. Papain and bromelain enzymes are fully activated at temperatures substantially higher than body temperatures.
When choosing an enzyme supplement, select broad-spectrum vegetarian enzymes to guarantee maximum efficacy.

I am a vegetarian too, and I am always scared to eat cheese because most cheeses have animal enzymes. Some come from animals and are used in fermenting cheese. Just call the company on the cheese package and ask if they use rennet, the most common enzyme in cheese. It comes from baby cow stomachs, where it would help baby cows digest their mothers milk. Enzymes catalyze biochemical reactions. Basically, they speed up chemical reactions.
