Usually meat labled Kosher what you would qualify as meat that is okay to eat by the wording of your question. You may pay more for that lable. Other than that perhaps the meat you should eat should be raised by local farmers perhaps people you know. Otherwise farmers who are in the farm not for say a living more simple folks who use their livestock for their family. I would think that the farmer who is very local and sells his meat only to say coworkers and family and friends doesn't raise their meat to go to a slaughter house and I would think that they don't inject their animals with lots of hormones.

ok heres the thing all animals that youre going to find in a restaurant ARE killed cruley... even free range dosent mean the killing was humane
y do you want to eat meat anway ..its not even good for you
look on peta.com
orrr goveg.com to learn more about becoming a vegetarinan...or even vegan if you really want to be humane towards animals

have fun!

Or better still, source meat which has been reared on a farm with a credited organic standard. All animals raised as organic for the production of organic meats must be slaughtered in a unit which also has organic certification, that standards for slaughter are the highest within these units (UK only) & possibly the highest in the world

I don't really think you can buy animal products, that have 100% creally free. - I mean that's just the way it is. Unless you are the one with the cow in your back yard, and you kill the cow yourself!

Also when here are words like organic and natural, it does not mean that the animal was treated better!

I'm a vegetarian, but I imagine you should buy meat the same way as vegetables - organic, local produce being ideal. If you live in an area with small farms, get to know the farmers, spend some time checking out their operations.

Although I'm personally opposed to the consumption of livestock, I do appreciate that you're thinking about the choices you make.

Best wishes...

First off - cows are raised on the range/fields.

The slaughter house is where they are killed by mass producers of meat products.

The only way to be 100% sure that you meat was raised decently and not treated badly is to raise your own meat..

Not something that I personally could do - but I know people that have and do such.

Animals are not kept in a slaughter house- they are killed there whether they are reared humanely- FREE RANGE or intensively.

You need to read the labels on the packet or ask the place where you buy the meat where it is sourced from.

Please tell me you didn't really think that animals lived in a slaughterhouse?

I am absolutely astounded at the lack of knowledge from most contributors here. Maybe it is an age thing?

Yes, the spelling here is typical of an uneducated 13 year old!

Kimberly, please educate yourself on the organic rearing of livestock. There are a lot of extremely uneducated people here, I'm just glad that the youngsters in the UK know more than a lot of you guys. Scary really what you don't know.

You'll have to ask your local butcher. He will be able to find the meat of your choice.
