Are you a good vegan or a bad vegan?!

Question: Do avoid everything on this list making you a good vegan?

Or are you not really serious yet?

Or are you not really serious yet?

I pretty much eat fruits, veggies, nuts & seeds all the time.
No processed food so it was pretty easy to scroll through your list there....
On birthdays I eat in restaurants, so that's maybe once a month or something, and I usually order something fairly simple.
No sense in being obsessive over the vegan thing, you know?
Again it's funny seeing people get so pis sed...
My impression was your list was actually helpful in calling attention to all the crap and unknowns people are getting when they eat processed foods, even vegetarian ones.

Good Q again, Mack...

i would be a very very bad vegan then.... besides all of those things, i eat regular old meat all the time. HEY im really interested in christy/ashley's answer!
good question though, keepin it real huh?

Yes, thank you, you're not the only one who has a list. I shop for products that are labeled free of animal ingredients and not tested on animals. And the list is available to download to your iPod so that you truly can avoid these things when shopping.

Did you think I was going to realize that I accidentally ate ostrich meat?

Of course none of us are perfect, but I don't know any self-proclaimed vegans who don't scrutinize labels.

Nice cutting and pasting. At least it ensured correct spelling and grammar for most of your 'question'. ''Do avoid everything on this list making you a good vegan?'' lol

Are you trying to catch people out? Hoping a vegan who eats lard or anchovies will read the list and realise their mistake?

Vegans avoid the things on this list. It isn't difficult, and it doesn't take much effort once you're used to it.

Possible exceptions are the substances used in medicines. In the event of serious illness or accident vegans don't have a choice of medicines.

Its a bit patronising to post that list to vegans. They know what products are from animals.

You cannot tell that the "vegan" who told you they eat eggs is actaully a vegan. Check out Ashley, Christy, FlexiVegan and David V. They has ALL said they are vegans or vegetarians and are clearly not - they are just trolls. You appear to have learnt from them, unless you are another of thier profiles which, judging by todays performance, you probably are.

Believe me, thats not a compliment

Your level of anger and insults will eat away at you.

Is there anything postive you can post in this forum ?

Go on, give it a try, its easier than you think.

Or, rather than post your next question, pause, sit back from your keyboard and think "why am i actually doing this ?"

EDIT so what ? "michiganwinteryay" says she eats eggs and is vegan. why not use your wonderful edcation and mature approach and direct a question at them, rather than asking the rest of us to pre-judge them ?

For someone who claims to be mature and with a decent education, all you've managed to do is prove you can cut and paste and post negative comments.

Great, so your not angry. You ve reduced your behavioural attributes to patronising, negative and insulting - good for you, be proud.

A few people interchange the words vegan and vegetarian, or use "vegan" as a collective. Again, you would need to ask those people directly why they do that, not us.

edit 2:

I'm sorry i wrote all that, Ms Z has a much better answer.

I agree that Scotland is beautiful...I've been there. I don't remember meeting halfwits like yourself...I guess you are part of the uneducated of the population, too bad.

Thanks for illustrating the point of one of my favorite essays, which argues that effective advocacy is so much more important than trying to be "pure" or focusing on a list of non-vegan ingredients to avoid: http://www.veganoutreach.org/howvegan.ht...

I'm a bad vegan because I still eat regular store bought wheat bread and eggs. Other than that I eat nothing containing meats or dairy.
