As a vegan would you wear fake fur?!
I have a really cute snow tiger print fuzzy jacket. I'm torn.
Answers: or does it represent something that you don't want to be associated with?

No, because I think it's a hideous material. I do wear shoes made of imitation leather though. Wear your jacket if you want to
No it doesn't bother me to eat fake meat; it adds variety of taste and texture to a vegan's diet, and shapes like burgers and sausages are just that - convenient shapes to form the centrepiece of a meal; no animal is round and flat, or sausage shaped.
If it's caused no suffering - and my fake chicken dinner hasn't, nor has your jacket - it's ok.
no i wouldn't wear anything that resembles any animal because it would wrong to the fact the your vegan.
if i were u i wouldnt wear it because it is just like u wanna wear the real one but it is fake u get me
That's a really interesting question. I would presume that most vegans would be ok with it, given that a lot of shoes they wear look very much like leather but are man made. It's only a print on an otherwise synthetic material.
I'm really starting to wonder about Yahoo answers-why have I got a thumbs down? Doesn't make sense.
I would wear it with pride-show the world how fashionable you can look WITHOUT taking an animals life. I personally don't eat the fake meats, but I see no reason for others not too. It just replicates the flavors that people have grown up with-again, they can prove that animals don't need to die in order to sustain humans. Wear your cute little fuzzy jacket with flair!
I only have one fake fur coat. But i'm not really into it. And sometimes its not even that cold enough to wear it.
I have a jacket with fake fur...but it was given to me.
I don't know if I would buy one, mainly because I think fur is ugly unless it's on the animal, and it's kinda useless as a fashion item :) Plus I've read that sometimes people think they are buying a one kind of fur, but it's actually something else, like dog fur from Asia...which is a bit crazy
If I were vegan and female I would. They look like the real thing. However, I am male and don't think men should be wearing fauxs/furs as I associate "fur/faux coats" with female fashion.
Personally, no. I find the practice of wearing fur so abhorrent that I don't want to perpetuate it by wearing something that looks like fur. How is that different from eating a veggie burger? I don't know, maybe it's not. But it's my line and that's where I draw it. If I saw you wearing the jacket you're contemplating, it would in no way impact my opinion of you as a human being.
Personally, no, I would not want to emulate wearing the skin of an animal that was solely killed for the purpose of vanity.
When I first became a vegetarian, I could not eat 'fake' meat products because I thought it was too weird.
But then I tried them and found them to be delicious! I tried ribs for the first time last week.......sssooo good.
If you like it, wear it.
No, I'm not desperate for artificial by-product. I would not accept it physically and psychologically.
I think it's not a good idea. How you going to differentiate the real & fake anyway?
I have some items that have fake fur (and I'm a vegan). I'm okay with wearing them (mostly, especially since they are clearly fake), partly to show people that there are alternatives. I would not however want anything too realistic, because I wouldn't want anyone to think that it's real and that I am another skank that condones wearing fur.
It does bother me that faux furs are designed to simulate real fur, that is they exist because real fur does. If no one ever wore real fur then wearing fake fur would have a totally different meaning, without ethics being involved.
Most of my fake fur things are things around my house, like throws, because they are comfortable (and humane) and never seen in public- so I don't have to worry about sending any particular message.
Fake meats- I used to be freaked out by them (too realistic- not that they are all that realistic, but there was some gross out factor involved). Over time I got over it and now I eat plenty of fake meats. After 24 years of veg you learn to adapt. :-P
I do have a vintage faux fur, but I wouldn't buy anything else with faux fur because of false labeling. Stuff labeled as faux has turned out to be real fur -- of a raccoon dog. Because of labeling laws, articles of clothing valued at less than $150 don't have to disclose where the fur came from.
I will eat faux meat, as I can read the label to determine the stuff is vegan. And I think it tastes good.
However, the decision whether or not to wear faux fur is entirely up to you.
