No, not all PETA members are vegan.
AND not all vegans are in PETA. I'm vegan and I am certainly not a member of PETA.
There's local organizations that are more trustworthy than PETA and that do more for animals on a personal level. Rather than writing out a check and having a "hands off", naive and trusting approach - and assuming that PETA will actually do something helpful with your money - give your time and money somewhere where you SEE the effort take place and see the changes YOU create.
The best thing you can do is find grassroots or local animal rights organizations and animal shelters. Volunteer a few hours a week washing out animal cages at a shelter. Volunteer to cuddle, walk and spend time with the dogs and cats at these shelters, who otherwise experience nothing but the cold bars they're kept in until they are either bought or "put to sleep". If you want to spend money and make donations, purchase pet food, litter, doggy pee pads, paper towels and other necessities for these shelters, who are bursting at the seams trying to accommodate the influx of homeless pets that end up inside them.
There's also animal rights organizations like the folks that braved going back into New Orleans to save stranded cats and dogs once people had been evacuated. There's groups that help "trap and spay" wild cats and dogs - for instance, they set up harmless traps and then take cats and dogs into vets (there are vets and organizations that will spay for as little as 10 dollars). Then they release the animals - this way they cannot multiply and produce even more unwanted cats and dogs.
Don't send your money and waste time with PETA, they're a massive multi-million dollar organization that squanders and mismanages most of the money they acquire from well-meaning but uninformed younger folks like yourself.
They spend millions on advertising and waste time with publicity stunts and ad campaigns that are disgusting, full of violent imagery, and that even compare the Holocaust and other human tragedies to the mistreatment and slaughtering pigs and cows - a flawed and offensive comparison if there ever was any.
Their celebrity "spokespeople" say the most about what PETA stands for - PUBLICITY, not actual meaning and consideration for ethical-minded progress in animal rights. Look at their spokespeople, like Pamela Anderson, host of many PETA ceremonies and frequent PETA puppet head - who marries a different man every week, recently had a very public abortion (and was seen in public smoking and drinking heavily while still pregnant), and changes breast size/implants like people change socks. And yet somehow she represents PETA and moral and ethical consideration for ALL life? Or is PETA just concerned with animal life?
No PETA wouldn't hate you as long as you send them money, PETA has and continues to kill animals, Yes I can PROVE it if you wish.
By the way if you believe in what PETA believes in, you better not have a pet, or want guide dogs for the blind, service animals for the disabled, or insulin for diabetics, etc. Yes I can prove that too.
Edit
"if you believe then you shouldnt have an animal" why not?
Because that what PETA believes in. Or maybe you don't believe the president and founder Ingrid Newkirk
http://activistcash.com/biography_quot...
“In the end, I think it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether.”
“Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.”
“There is no hidden agenda. If anybody wonders about -- what’s this with all these reforms -- you can hear us clearly. Our goal is total animal liberation. [emphasis added]”
Although PETA's web site says it's not against pets, their president and founder sure is. So do you believe their PC web site or the words of their president and founder?
i suppose that eating meat that was given a good happy life then killed quickly and humanely is better than the factory farmed, tortured and painfully killed animal. but i dont know if peta would approve.
if every meat eater ate humanely reared animals its a big step in the right direction.
The people that work at PETA are vegans, the people that are PETA members are not.
PETA would not hate you if you joined, because PETA doesn't care about their members as much as they care about money and publicity.
"i disagree compleatly (sic) with animal cruelty"
No, not completely... If you eat meat, eggs, and dairy, then you are not completely against animal cruelty. Most of the animal cruelty that exists is not toward cats and dogs, but towards food animals. If you would like to see PETA's view on this, watch their short film, Meet Your Meat (which can be found on YouTube and GoVeg.com). I would personally recommend the movie Earthlings.
The previous answers have already stated that there are better organizations than PETA to support, and that PETA is actually against many of the things you would support.
::edit::
CLARIFICATION: PETA's goal is total animal liberation. That means no zoos, no animals for food, no circuses, no pets, no seeing eye dogs, no farm animals, no medical cures gained from animal tests, no wool/silk/leather clothes, no horses pulling the Amish buggies, etc., etc....
PETA does not operate "no kill" shelters, they kill 2/3 of the animals brought to them.
PETA also supports the fire-bombing of laboratories.
No, they will secretly spite you for always, even as they take your money.
If your gonig to join PETA, you must be a vegan, atleast a vegetarian. That means no meat or fish.
Going vegetarian is one of the most effective ways to stop cruelty to animals, as 99 out of every 100 animals killed in this country are farmed animals.
That said, anyone can join PETA. They have 1.8 million members and I doubt that all of their members are vegetarian. All you have to do is fill out this form and make a donation of at least $16:

PETA does put a lot of effort into publicity, because this is an extremely effective way for nonprofit organizations to get their message heard. Imagine if you had a protest and 50 people walking by saw your protest. That's great, but if you get on the news, thousands of people will get your message.
PETA's one of the most dedicated and effective groups out there, in my opinion, and I can't imagine how much more suffering in the world there'd be if PETA didn't exist. The reason that they're so hated and attacked by the animal-abusing industry is because they relentlessly work to expose and reduce animal cruelty wherever it is found.
Anyway, thanks for wanting to take a stand against animal cruelty!
It wont matter as long as you give them your money. They dont believe in no-kill animal shelters, and euthenize adoptable animal like crazy. I think they are a little over the top, they are actually being investigated for terrorism. i am a vegatarian and i dont support PETA, you should investigate them and see all the extremist things they do.
eating meat is immoral.
Yes they would hate you.
