Your vegetarianism probably makes people uncomfortable due to them having never or hardly ever questioned the implications of their eating habits. People tend to act out in all sorts of odd ways when something they have never questioned before, is being questioned, even indirectly by others decisions. An example would be religious fanatics, who meet people of other religions for the first time. Not to say that you are saying or doing anything more than quietly professing your lifestyle decision in order to not be served meat, but for plenty of people it may raise the topic of animal welfare and the exact necessity of animal slaughter. By you saying you are vegetarian, it causes them to question their own lifestyle choices, and this can occasionally make people feel uncomfortable as they have never questioned their ingrained lifestyle choices.

Nevermind them, You'll find plenty of supporters, eventually. And you should be proud of your decision, you are truly doing a remarkable thing and should be commended for such. Nowadays Vegetarianism is more social acceptable than it probably has ever been and you shouldn't face too much animosity.
Hehe, imagine what Vegans must go through. They can sometimes recieve animosity from both omnivores and vegetarians. Good Luck, and personally I would like to commend and thank you for making such an amazing lifestyle choice.

No, it just limits what foods you can enjoy with other people.

no its your choice

No.. but if someone is cooking for you then you should tell them BEFORE they make you a roast beef.

nope, not a thing.

There is something wrong with America politics, now that is what folks should be making a big deal about.

Nothing is wrong with being vegetarian. Just make sure you take your vitamins and supplements as needed. =)

no, but it is not the natural state of your diet. that does not make it wrong, it does rub up against many american cultural norms. if it feels right go with it, just don't try and convert us to your way, we should not try and convert you either. raw food vegans are a different kettle of soybeans however, those people are nuts! well, nuts and berries any way....

nope, it is just culture today, you will get guff about it, people saying you are wrong and stupid, it just comes with the choice, dont be afraid to speak up though, if they want to give you a hard time for being vegan or vegetarian i think you have every right to give them a lecture back

OK.
Veg is good in our religion. i think it is basic concept of every religion .

A lot of people make a big deal about it because it makes them feel guilty. They try to rationalize the fact that they're eating meat by thinking "everyone eats meat". So when they see someone who doesn't, it bugs them because it serves as a reminder.

Definately not. Being vegetarian helps the enviroment, world hunger, obesity problems and vegetarians live 6-10 years longer than meat-eaters

FOR THOSE HYPOCRITE KNOWINGLY IGNORE

Humans—who enslave, castrate, experiment on, and fillet other animals—have had an understandable penchant for pretending animals do not feel pain. A sharp distinction between humans and ‘animals’ is essential if we are to bend them to our will, make them work for us, wear them, eat them— without any disquieting tinges of guilt or regret.

FOR THOSE DELUDED BY SOCIETAL "NORM".

For modern animal agriculture, the less the consumer knows about what’s happening before the meat hits the plate, the better. If true, is this an ethical situation? Should we be reluctant to let people know what really goes on, because we’re not really proud of it and concerned that it might turn them to vegetarianism? If the public knew more about the way in which agricultural and animal production infringes on animal welfare, the outcry would be louder. In my opinion, if most urban meat eaters were to visit an industrial broiler house, to see how the birds are raised, and could see the birds being ‘harvested’ and then being ‘processed’ in a poultry processing plant, they would not be impressed and some, perhaps many of them would swear off eating chicken and perhaps all meat.

You have been meating (meeting) with the 2nd type/group of people generally- they are innocents! Try your ways to relate your wisdom! -humbly and tactfully.

No, most people are just slow in the head and can't handle anyone that is different.

These people that you speak of don't know anything about vegetarianism so anything that they say about it is a joke.

There is nothing wrong with it, it is a good thing. Others don't understand. I get the same reaction.

nothing .it's actually very very good.i want to become one but itsnt possible becos my son likes only nonvegetarian food. keep goin ! dont bother about what others say

No, but some people aren't familiar with it and unfamiliar things frighten people. Some others feel judged as though your vegetarianism is somehow casting aspersions on their choice to eat meat. You can't feel responsible for how other people react to your choice; you made it for yourself and not for them.

not at all , it's a choice made by some for various reasons , some go all the way w/ it + some don't .

Do you personally find it wrong that you decided that meat isn't something is tastey? BUT, don't keep mentioning to people then.. Just act as if everyone already knows it. I personally find eating a meat is a part of life and if we were given carnivorous (spelling) teeth, then why not use them?

Yes cause meats have proteins you can only get from eating them your body needs these proteins.

theres nothing wrong with being vegetarian
and nothing wrong with being a meat eater.

vegetarianism is a trend now. but if you really want to help animals then its your choice. i tried and then i ended up not caring. being a vegetarian made me fat anyways. i ate alot cos nothing filed me up. & i was tired of eating the same thing.

Yes. They say that vegetables are good for the body. But it isn't always. Your body needs a little meat. Our body needs all the foods in the food pyramid. So it's up to you.
