Vegetarian kfc in the uk?!
now I'm vegetarian, so I don't just want to buy the real stuff, i mainly loved the outside anyway so my question is.
where in the UK can you buy something that tastes exactly like it? I've tried other southern fried qourn and stuff, but never the same texture and taste!

Answers: today, I was reminded of how good the outside part of KFC is, i accidently ate a little from my dads chips which had had a piece of the KFC chicken laying on it a little.

I know what you mean, I sometimes miss fried chicken. For a veg alternative, I think you will have to go to your own kitchen. I have a thought, you could take any fried chicken recipe and substitute quorn (or something like that) tofu is too soft and wet.
The basic idea is to moisten the item you intend to coat, and then coat it in some flour mixture (corn flakes?) and deep fry. The deep fry adds the yummy flavor.
Good Luck!
Info for vegans
Quorn contains egg white as a binding agent.
You'll have to ask the Colonel. It's his secret original recipe. Fry some flower and experience with spices. There is alot of pepper in it.
How can you miss fried chicken? All I can remember about it is the occasional blood vessel that came out sometimes after a bite and hung down... Grossed me out then; can't imagine now.
As for the spices... not sure but I know that there are thirteen. so if you have, let's say, 100 spices to choose blindly from; your chances are around 1 in 7110542499799201. Good luck and let me know if you figure it out.
impossible mate. you can't equal the real thing.
I am a former chef and ironically worked for KFC here in Canada as alad in the 1970's as a part-time job durning High School, they have change very little execpt for a few more menu items, they have always cooked there fries/chips in veg based fats, the chix's to. Now they have changed over trans fat free oils.
Here in Canada we have several meatless mock chicken item, ones like nuggets from McD and fingers like a fish finger only made witha blend of soya and other veg. In India they have no beef burgers because of hindu laws, it would be nice to have a non chicken alternative at KFC as the could cook it in the same fryers as the fries/chips and not contaminate it with any chix product, by they do cook popcorn chix, burgers and fillets in the same fat as the veg items.
Vegetarian KFC? Isn't that a contradiction in terms? Have a piece of chicken for God sake. You're part of the damn food chain-- no other carnivore/omnivore has issues with its own natural biological function. But if you insist, please don't bastardize KFC for the rest of us.
