Why do so many vegans drink alcohol and smoke illegal drugs?!

Question: Vegans are morally superior people. We vegans should have enough self control to avoid these things which will compromise our well being. I for one am a moral vegan that does not smoke, drink or, cuss. As an avid member of the vegan community I am highly disappointed at the amount of consuming immoral illegal substance to “feel good.”

Do you agree?

I think the V & V drives them to it! :-)

Mack---what animal does cotton come from? Cotton is vegan and you're a troll. Undoubtedly one of the same old trolls with a really weird obssession.

All the ones I know do not either. They are too healthy. They recycle everything.

i think you need to look up the term 'self righteousness' !!!

Morally superior. lol.

..speaking of which, I might BBQ some steaks tonight.

there's no way i could ever be a vegan, so i can't relate to this at all.
but vegans aren't the only people who do those things, thats everyone.
i guess they do it for one simple reason:
they can.

People have different morals, your morals are only superior in your eyes.

Get off your high horse and realize that you are no better then anyone else. You make different decisions because that's how you want to live your life. I will not fault you for your decision, you shouldn't fault others for what they choose to do or not do.
I am not a vegan and will never choose to be one. I do not smoke but I do drink and I do curse on occasion. That does not make you morally superior...it makes you different.

to make up for the chemicals they are not getting in their beef

Most vegans consider themselves to be part of a counter culture, and as such are involved in more than just one aspect of that culture. Drugs, and free expression have always been a part of counter culture, however; a strong movement towards, "moral veganism" is gaining momentum.

Remember your convictions may be different from your vegan counter parts. Tolerance and communication are the best way to get your point across that the lifestyle for you is about the best way to live, not just being a part of the counter culture.

If you had to eat such crappy food, wouldn't you drink and smoke?

Agree and disagree, all vegans are not the same.

When meat is out off their lives, they tend to do this kind of negative activities.

If they're weren't vegans in the first place, they wouldn't have resorted to drinking alcohol & taking drugs.

Common sense really. =)

Everybody needs at least one bad habit or 'sin'- it's healthier to have one than not have one. Mine are drinking, cussing and fornicating. Yours is what? Trolling?

Since you ended this with the question...do you agree, I just had to give my opinion.
I am NOT a vegan and neither are many of my friends and family members and I feel many of us and live by very high morals! I don't understand your logic in saying that vegans are morally superior. That is a highly self centered statement to make. My bf is not a vegan and is the most morally "grounded" person I have ever met. Also, btw...alcohol is in fact "legal" for one. Cussing is not "illegal" either. Rude and crude, yes but certainly not illegal and I cuss in my home only...all the time. So what? Not offending anyone. And as far as smoking illegal drugs....I am assuming you are speaking of marijuana (though yes, i realize there are other things that people smoke, that I would never even consider inhaling myself) but what I think you should do is pack a bowl or roll a blunt...inhale some of those lovely trees and chill out. Wow, I still can't get over the "morally superior" statement. LOLOLOL!

I drink lots of wine and enjoy myself.

mind you, i'm a vegetarian and we both know my morals are lower than yours

well Ashley, i wish you did, because maybe it would help you be less annoying, and more original with your trolling

hahahaha morally superior hahahaha

ok that was a good joke
now whats your question???

oh, did you know that your personal information is the exact - also inaccurate- post that 'christy' made recently??

Vegans are "morally superior" people? I don't eat meat and I don't consider myself "superior" to anyone.

As far as your question, a true health concerned vegan probably won't do those things, but I would assume that most alcohol and drugs don't contain meat or meat products... so I guess they do it because they like it!

Apparently you have never heard of "Vegan Straight Edge."

I disagree.

I have a friend who was a vegetarian for 4 years, and became vegan recently. He doesn't smoke cigarettes or drink (most alcohol isn't vegan, anyways), but he does smoke pot. He didn't pick up that habit in the states, but in Europe.

This guy has done wonderful work in our community, as he just convinced the college in town to use biodiesel in the city/college buses. And he donates and helps out with the free market we have here.

I feel that he is more morally superior than most people I know.

If vegans are morally superior (which they aren't), then omnivores are intellectually and physically superior (which we aren't) And you obviously don't know what moral is, because you can still have morals if you smoke, drink or cuss! It's a life choice, like being a vegan!

I don't drink or smoke or even use aspirin.

How do manage to come up with this bullsh*t on a regular basis?

Can you validate? Only "those" kind of vegans you know in your head? Those could not moderate the simple lifestyle could never discipline their diet, would never become a moral vegan!

You should be vegan because you care about animals and the world around you, not for your own purity. You're not pure. Own it.
