Is it true that vegans are not allowed wool carpets or makeup with lanolin in?!
I live in the UK and it can get really cold at times. I would feel bad if I had a nylon carpet because of the pollution created when producing it. I also sleep on a quadruple sheepskin as it's the only thing that keeps me warm in winter. I can't afford the extra electric bill if I use an electric blanket.
How do vegans keep warm in cold parts of the world?
Answers: How do you cover your floors if you live in a cold area?

Vegans avoid products from animals, including wool and lanolin. They are allowed to do anything, they have just made a choice. If they already have wool carpets when they become vegan, there is no vegan police that would come and remove them.
Personally I dislike carpet. I live in the UK too, and have no problem keeping warm in bed with a winter strength duvet and a hot water bottle. Then again I'm a midlander - where do you live?
Me, I saw your part of the world on TV yesterday morning (election coverage). Bloody hell! In the UK we see weather like that a couple of times in a lifetime.
Edit* Ooh yes, much colder than the midlands!
It is true.
Is it true that vegans are not allowed wool carpets or makeup with lanolin in? True.
Most vegans can afford the electric bill.
I live in a place a lot colder than the UK and have hardwood floors.
There are plenty of fabrics vegans can use.
Lo---it's been snowy this year. My Mom's place, about 65 miles north of here, got 13 inches Wednesday. Not a record breaker but it's piling on...LOL
Allowed is an odd word choice. There are no vegan police who will kick them out of the veganhood for consuming animal products. It is likely that some hardcore vegan will try to do without as much as possible.
This goes the same for marshmallows and the like due to the Gelatin in them.
I live in Canada, and I don't think I could afford a wool carpet if I wanted one. Must be nice to be rich.
Do they not sell slippers where you live? I have a cute set of Betty-boop slippers that keep my feet farm and my hubby keeps my bed warm. :)
You can also try eating nice hot soup, tea, and dark hot chocolate.
Maybe you have poor circulation or something.
And lanolin makeup is a big no-no, but there are lots of other animal ingredients in the stuff as well. It's easier to just not buy the stuff at all.
I am laktoovo vegetarian since 5-6 years, and I dont find wool wrong at all. My concept is that we can take animal products that can give to us withou getting hurted. If people wouldnt cut wool then those poor animals would had so big wool that they couldnt move at all... so its not prohibited. About lanolin, there is a lot of products without it so we dont loose anything. Oh, and there is a cotton too, that can replace wool for some people that dont want to use it.
I can't answer this question because your avitar is scaring me.
your avatar keeps me very warm....free of charge.
We do our homework and find good alternatives.
I thought I could never give up leather- yet I put my mind into it and found som many stylish jackets, shoes, and boots that you would never suspect were faux.
Same goes for wool- althogh I will admit that winter coats are hard to find that have no wool in them- but where there's a will there's a way.
I have to agree with Nanjadufrance, your avartar is kinda scary.
A vegan person is allowed to do whatever they want to but we choose no to use anything that is sourced from animals.
Just as Lo stated, if someone already has the carpet before they go vegan, there is no reason to tear it out.
i myself hate carpet and think that it's disgusting, so I don't have to worry about it.
We do everything that we can to not contribute money to companies for products that involved the suffering of others.
Please remember that if someone calls themselves vegan, they should be concerned with the people around them as much as the animals that they never actually meet.
As to how people that don't eat meat keep warm in cold parts of the world? Same as those that eat meat - warm clothes, extra blankets - maybe a warm someone to snuggle with to keep them warm - same as those that eat meat.
The ex fiancee vegetarian/vegan and myself mostly vegetarian - now totally vegetarian lived in my home for close to 3 years and I have wool handmade carpets. Neither of us had a problem with the carpets - both of us LOVED them!
As to lanolin products - don't have any in the house that I know of.
My light bills actually went DOWN when the ex left - - the drop in the bill had nothing to do with the carpets at all...... and most def. nothing to do with lanolin.
